Thank goodness for Netflix otherwise I would've missed this gem. It had a couple of surprisingly good knife fighting scenes. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7zF3vZL-4s) It's a little brutal and not for the squeamish, but, if you have netflix and you're looking for some "Taken" type of action, then check it out.

That's an old movie dude.

Sayoc Kali was the style used in that movie by the way.

I actually prefer new threads on old movies over just adding them to our recent purchases thread (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48113), as it stands as a better archived reference for people looking into the film.

This has nothing to do with Cinemax’s Hunted (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64647), right? I haven't seen either.

Not at all. It's about a covert assassin going off the deep end and the man who trained him has to track him down and take him out. They fight with knives. They tried to keep it gritty and semi realistic. The end fight's pretty brutal.

I knew it was older, but thanks to netflix, I actually had the incentive to check it out and was pleasantly surprised by an overlooked movie.

Wasn't there a movie with the same name with Christopher Lambert in it?
He was a businessman in Japan who got caught up with Ninja's who killed the woman he just met. He was taken in by a Samurai who had a feud with the Ninja going back.

There is that movie, but I'm referring to this one

It was a pretty good movie, but I thought the part near the end where he finds a piece of metal somewhere, makes a fire, and forges the piece of metal into a working knife as quickly and easily as cooking a pot of stew, is silly. I know...suspension of disbelief and all that, but that's really pushing it.

Next thing you're going to tell me how Capt. Kirk defeats the Gorn.

Oops, sorry, Gene! :(

On the brighter side...if there is one...that was how I felt back in 1981 when, while standing in line to see Raiders of the Lost Ark, (*spoiler alert!*) some fat kid in the crowd exiting the theater was laughing and loudly describing the nazis' faces melting and their eyeballs disintegrating.
