My knee popped last night doing a hurdler's stretch. Ortho says that I likely tore my meniscus and possibly a small part of my hamstring. All ligaments are intact, but I have to have an MRI to verify it.

I had torn meniscus in both knees and had them repaired a year apart about 30 years ago and I my knees have not been a problem since except for some occasional stiffness. Good luck with your knee.

I tore the meniscus in my right knee about 7 years ago. They didn't recommend surgery at the time. Took about 3 months to heal because I didn't stop training but it's never bothered me since.

The beauty of modern pharmaceuticals.... Couldn't stand up yesterday, but with ice, compression, and Flector patches, I walked into work today no problem.

Don't let pharm mask pain when that pain is telling you to get some down time. You could make it worse in the long run.

Not to put doubt into your mind, but be prudent while recovering. It takes longer when you get older. You know that.

Flector patches mainly reduce swelling.

When mine tore, my knees locked up, couldn't bend them and it was extremely painful. Some people suggest taking hyaluronic acid supplement to help lubricate and to add sonovial (I think that is the right word) fluid to the area. I started practicing lightly a week after surgery.

I have full range of motion, it's just tender and I can't put my full weight on it. The pain is localized on the outside of my knee, so I'm crossing my fingers that it's just a bad sprain. He thought it might be torn meniscus because my knee cracked when he rotated it, but my knees always crack when I squat. Anyway, MRI is Tuesday.

I've had an MRI season myself.

Never rely on the initial radiology interpretation. Allow a specialist to review your images. (My recent lesson...)

Final verdict is a strain of the left popliteus tendon, LCL sprain, and small joint effusion with tiny Baker's cyst.

I should be back in action in a few days.

Was it from Martial Arts Mart?

If MartialArtsMart.com sold $600 knee braces, they would have a special secret pocket for your numchuks (http://www.martialartsmart.com/weapons-nunchakus.html).

Hope the brace helps, MK.
