"Samurai Karate Kung-Fu & Jujitsu is mixed martial arts. It was developed by Sensei Hisamoto. The Art was originally taught to him by his father and six older brothers. Sensei's older brothers where all six feet, and Sensei turned out to be 5'6. So necessity called for him to modify the techniques over the years to make sure they were affective against bigger and stronger opponents. In doing so Sensei was able to over come the height advantage of all his brothers. He then began his own martial arts studio, with the promise to teach kids, women and smaller men to be able to defend themselves against the bigger meaner and more aggressive bullies. Technique over power, if your technique is affective enough you can defeat anyone, and height and size will no longer matter. If you are big and strong and you learn Sensei's techniques you are even at a greater advantage, because you have the best of both worlds. POWER and TECHNIQUE.

Samurai Karate spans a large array of different martial arts styles. Only using the most effective techniques from each system. Like the Shaolin monks of old, which were masters of all five animal styles of Kung-Fu. The reason being, they realized martial arts was multi-dimensional not just one dimension. In the word of Bruce Lee, a well known martial arts master of modern times, "To truly master fighting, you must be like water ... when water enters a glass it becomes the glass, when water enters the bottle it becomes the bottle." In order to truly master the martial arts, you must open your mind and techniques to include all that is affective to be able to truly survive in all sorts of defensive situations. As mention before, Bruce Lee, even carried on this teaching further and developing a affective fighting style. Sensei Hisamoto has done the same, taking the techniques of his ancestors and expanding upon Master Lee's principles of fighting to develop the 13 animal styles instead of the five of old. The 13 animal styles are further techniques of strategies and expanded systems of fighting for specific ranges of situations when fighting. Unlike the Shaolin Kung-Fu of old it does not take a life-time to learn the principles and techniques Samurai Karate but a modest 4 to 5 years of practice and dedication."

let's see...
<ul>
The style has 11 belts, and you can get through the system in 4-5 years?</li>

They stress that most of the students take privates, and seem to ush those over the group classes. They have no price listed for the privates, which are probably high. Notice how he makes it clear that the group class rates do not include private lessons...</li>

While we're talking about money, the price for 4 intro classes is 40 bucks?</li>

Why does he have kung fu listed? From the class schedule and list of descriptions, he doesn't teach it.</li>

He has more info on the other styles that he teaches than he does of his own</li>

He endorses the speedman</li>

They spelles "sai" as "sia" (hopefully that's just a typo and they at least do know the name of it)</li>

Look at the photo album, and while you're at it, check out the red belt. That's a cat stance?</li>

"From its very beginning, competition has been an integral part of Judo. This ensures that Judo's techniques are continually refined as the unrealistic techniques are discarded in favor of effective and efficient ones."

I didn't know that that the techniques of jujitsu were unrealistic. ****... samurai must have been sucky fighters. I bet his samurai karate students could kick a true samurai's butt.</li>

A first degree black belt = mastery of the system?</li>

this school also teaches "samurai karate" they have a more detailed history, but it is nothing like, or related to the one referenced in this post: <A HREF="http://www.samurai-karate-uk.co.uk/history.html</li>" TARGET=_blank>http://www.samurai-karate-uk.co.uk/history.html</li></A>

"samurai karate" appears to be a fairly generic term. There are other "samurai karate" clubs and schools also.

http://samurai.freeservers.com/home.htm
http://www.eskimo.com/~mscott/ContactUs.html
http://www.chariot.net.au/~idv/links.htm
the list goes on... the styles represented mainly on these sites are kyokushinkai, shotokan and shukokai"</li>

I guess I'll stop now :)

Im not an expert but wasnt the samarai class disbanded with the cutting of the topknots at the beginning of the meiji restoration in I beleive the late 1860's.Jigoro Kano established judo as a form of physical fitness in the 1880's with his school the kodokan. He was an innovator in that he established the system of randori(judo free sparring)to see what techniques were effective for different body types etc.It is true that atemi(striking)were not allowed in competition but that throws, locks, chokes, holds were used within the context of a sporting competition(Ive heard that sensei kano used greco roman as one of his models). With this ability to test certain techniques you learn one thing-what works for you as an individual and what doesnt ie techniques based on body type ect. but you still practice the overall curicullum just as in any martial art or martial sport. With judo since it is an olympic sport you have the ability to train with many very, very, talented athletes. What has judo taught me?No one is undefeatable. That is why you can tap or get thrown and in training you get back up and do it all over again.Any athletic pursuit is such an individual thing that its very hard to put into words but to say that a smaller person has an advantage with this technique or that technique is just plain wrong.Im a smaller man (160 lbs)and against a larger person I am at an automatic disadvantage because of body size, leverage, etc. Some of this can be made up by skill but there are no gaurantees to anything in life.As the old saying goes"sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you".So why pursue training? Many reasons to me but the main point should be made by sensei kano hiself who wanted the art of judo to be pursued as a healthy method to train the body which invigorates a great spirit in the individual. The mind wills the body and the body invigorates the spirit.I believe people can sense this around people who are "full of life".

Acording to that site by black belt your a master of the system sounds like BS to me. It's pretty hard to tell if a school is good or not just by looking at their website. Seems to Me that Samuri Karate is nothing more than a school willing to sell people anything just to make a buck. The biggest alarm being that they offer so many styles as well as pushing private lessons. Offering provate lessons is fine it's when the private lessons are manditory that you know it's just not cool.
These kind of schools make me sick.

I can't believe no one has commented on sevenstar's "ninja kung fu" site yet. For a good laugh, click on that link and read the "interduction" to master Mike Yep. His training has included teakwondo, wong chun kung fu, and jeet kunge do. Of course, his strongest background is in the "chinese ninja art."
