This issue will feature a report on the Cultures of China: Chinese Artistic and Cultural Talent Competition (Martial Art) for Global Chinese. I just posted some photos on facebook and will be posting more all week long. (https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10152152426919363.1073741851.135964689362&type=3)

The MAR+APR issue is always the one where we run our horoscopes for the new year. We are posting them early at KungFuMagazine.com to make Chinese New Year celebrations. This issue will hit the newsstands next week.

Is the Master on the new cover a Sanda Master? Impressive stance and projection of power. Looks like you guys really packed this issue. :) Will be after it.

If anything, he's actually a wushu master. :p

Master Sun was first gen wushu, a major rival of Jet Li, and the inventor of what we now know as drunken staff. He's now in movies. It's a big story as Master Sun was eyewitness to a lot of PRC martial history since the CR - you'll just have to read it.

:) Master Sun looks familiar, phoenix eye backfist is something I hadn't seen before, just didn't know how much Sanda practitioners are into different hand technique outside of glove use, will have to look into it though. Thanks!

Isn't that a dragon fist? Phoenix eye is index finger knuckle and the dragon is middle finger knuckle. The dragon fist, back fist version is normally used to target the heart and throat. Sneaky little strike! I'm sure there are more uses, but that's how I learned it.

:) Thanks for info! Did not notice which knuckle was protruding, ha! Like a centerline backfist, thanks for including strike zone.

Hey Gene,

I just renewed my sub the other day after receiving the notice in this months issue. So I figured while I was renewing I would order some new shoes, placed my order and received them on Friday. Now I dont mind getting extra stuff when I order items, however I was not expecting to receive another copy of the current issue, so thanks for that. I can donate it to my school and maybe net y'all a new subscriber! :D

Any chance I can get a shirt? ;)

There is a promo going on at MartialArtsMart.com right now where you get a free copy of Kung Fu Tai Chi 2003 Jan/Feb Issue (http://www.martialartsmart.com/kf-200114.html). I think that's with a $50+ purchase. If they sent you the Mar+Apr 2014, that was an error.

I got this issue. Order two years for renewal and a pair of feyues. Was bummed due to the back order on my size shoe for the black.

Perhaps they sent you the first issue of your new subscription, not realizing that you already got it. You might give them a call (toll free) 1-800-824-2433 just to be sure. I wouldn't want you to come up an issue shy.

The pinyin for 戳腳 is "chuojiao" not "choujiao"...

GeneChing
02-25-2014, 03:18 PM
That's totally my bad. My apologies. I'm a bit dyslexic when it comes to the 'ou' vs 'uo' in pinyin and have made the same mistake with louhan/luohan and taguo/tagou.

Thanks for the correction, Taijiren. Maybe next time, I'll learn.

:o
