(Miramax, 1994) Brandon Lee's costume consists of form-fitting black shirt with electrical tape wrapped around the abdomen, faux leather pants, boots and trench coat. All items are heavily distressed with bullet holes and wear for the film. The costume is mounted on a mannequin with a custom painted head of Brandon Lee's "Crow" character and is complete with a screen used crow bird from the film. Accompanying the display is Sofia Shinas'"Shelly Webster" wedding dress and prop wedding invitation.

Bruce Lee black Gung Fu jacket ($20,000-$30,000)

Bruce Lee's black Gung Fu top, circa 1966-67. It has four Chinese knotted fasteners along the front. Bruce Lee wore this particular top often and taught with it on. Accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity from Taky Kimura, Lee's friend and protégé, stating that the top was obtained by him directly from Bruce Lee. Signed book in the Mantis-style boxing series, 62 pp, 5 in. x 7 ½ in. Text entirely in Chinese. Softcover binding, lacks rear cover. Lee has shaded the letters of the title in blue ink. Inside the cover, he has signed "Property of Bruce Lee". On the front flyleaf, Lee has penned "The Northern Mantis Clan" and drawn, in detail, a large praying mantis, 3 in. long x 2 in. tall. The book is copiously illustrated with black & white photographs depicting a Kung Fu artist with text. Bruce Lee's ownership rubber stamp "Mr. Bruce Lee - 1122 Jefferson Street - Seattle, Washington" appears on the first text page, as well as small checkmarks and circle notations above some of the photographs. Taky Kimura met Bruce Lee in Seattle in 1960. He eventually became head instructor of the Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute. Kimura was the best man at Linda and Bruce Lee's wedding in 1964, and one of the pallbearers at Lee's funeral nine years later. Overall, fine condition. Includes a signed certificate of authenticity from Taky Kimura stating that the book was given to him by Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee's ownership rubber stamp on the front flyleaf, "Mr. Bruce Lee - 11222 Jefferson Street - Seattle, Washington". Lee has outlined the front legs of the cover illustration praying mantis in black ink. Contains extensive annotations in Lee's hand of 350 words of explanatory text in English, as well as direction arrows indicating motion on every black & white photograph. On the photograph on page 35 Lee has written "(1) This is a hook to the temple [arrow drawn by Lee] as soon as opponent' hand tries to block your left straight punch. (2) from same straight punch bend and strike violently at opponent temple (This is double punching after opponent blocked your first straight punch and then hook in again from straight arm position coordinate retreat of left foot [arrow drawn by Lee] to get power". An incredible insight into Lee's fighting style, presented as a gift to one of his students and close friends. Small damp stain at lower front cover, otherwise, fine condition. Includes a signed certificate of authenticity from Taky Kimura stating that the book was given to him by Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee "Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute" membership card and Handwritten letter. ($12,000-$15,000)

Rare "Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute" red stripe student membership card signed by Bruce Lee as President. Card measures 3 ½ in. x 2 ½ in. Accompanied by a rare autograph letter signed to his friend and protégé, Taky Kimura. Comes with the original transmittal envelope addressed in Lee's hand, postmarked September 11, 1967. Lee pens [in full]: "Taky, Quarterly Card for Winter (Sept. 21 - Dec. 21 1967) Fill in the rest with Typewriter and sign your name on (Instructor) Bruce". Bruce Lee's Chinese name was Lee Jun Fan. According to Kimura, only a few "red stripe" cards were signed by Lee. Bruce Lee's first Gung Fu school was in Seattle, where Kimura was Lee's assistant instructor. Both letter and card are in fine condition.

Bruce Lee's long medium-blue, fur-lined Chinese costume jacket circa 1973. This patterned medium blue silk, fur-lined Chinese-styled long jacket was created and made for Bruce Lee's movie he was to make after the completion of Enter the Dragon. Lee wore the jacket for a photo session to test the costume during a pre-pre-production photo shoot prior to his untimely death. Accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity from Robert Lee, younger brother of Bruce Lee, stating the provenance. An amazing archive of Bruce Lee items comprising a typewritten letter on "Golden Harvest Studios" letterhead to Taky Kimura signed by his secretary; four original Pan American World Airways tickets with envelope; Western Union telegram to Taky Kimura in Seattle; and original transmittal envelopes. In September, 1972, Lee began preliminary filming of fight sequences for his next film, The Game of Death. The project was put on hold in November while he prepared the film Enter the Dragon, which began filming in January, 1973. Indoor shots were filmed at Golden Harvest Studios in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Enter the Dragon had its world premiere in Hong Kong on July 26, 1976, six days after Bruce Lee's sudden death at the age of 32.

Bruce Lee hand and forearm strengthener ($3,000-$4,000)

Green wood and metal hand and forearm strengthener circa 1966-67. This was used as a vital part of Bruce Lee's personal martial arts training program; he owned and used this particular strengthener frequently. The iconic martial artist's incomplete last film was intended to present Jeet Kune Do to the public

In 1973, martial artist Bruce Lee launched himself into the American psyche with the force of one of his flying kicks as Enter the Dragon was released. Three days later Lee was dead, due to swelling on the brain.

Enter the Dragon was the last film that Lee finished, but it was not the last one he began. In fact, work began on Game of Death - a film in which the star intended to demonstrate his own martial art Jeet Kune Do ('the way of the intercepting fist') - before Enter the Dragon was offered.

The latter movie, which was the first kung fu film produced by a Hollywood studio, and with a much bigger budget than Lee was used to, could not be turned down. Nevertheless, 100 minutes of Game of Death were filmed before Enter the Dragon was released.

As for Game of Death, it was only released in 1978 with a plotline altered to allow it to be completed using footage from other kung fu stars and stunt doubles with the main character's change in appearance explained away.

Despite its changes from the original project it remains a cult classic and the yellow jumpsuit which Lee wears is referenced in the costume of Uma Thurman's character The Bride/Black Mamba in Kill Bill.

Now the original jumpsuit worn by Lee is heading Heritage Auctions sale of Entertainment Memorabilia on July 17 with a relatively modest estimate of $60,000. The live sale takes place in California and internet absentee bidding is accepted until the day before.

Collectors interested in Bruce Lee memorabilia will be interested to know that there is another very rare and high quality piece on the market at the moment: an autographed notebook for an intended book entitled 'The Tao of Chinese Gung Fu' including original martial art drawings.

Bruce Lee's famous yellow outfit from his final film "Game of Death" is going to be auctioned in next month.

Ponte 16 Resort Hotel in Macau will auction 100 items that belonged to celebrities, including Bruce Lee's famous yellow outfit from his final film "Game of Death," in conjunction with Julien's Auctions next month, according to Hong Kong newspaper Ming Pao.

"Game of Death" was shot in autumn of 1972. As the leading actor, Lee suddenly died and left the movie two-thirds unfinished. The sight of Lee dressed in the yellow motorcyclists' racing suit has already become a very famous and classic image.

The exhibition and auction will be held from Sept. 24 to Oct. 8 in Macau and it will be the first that Julien's Auctions has held in Asia.

The items also include Michael Jackson's jacket and the black gloves he wore when singing "Beat It" in his global "Bad Tour" in 1987 to 1989, Princess Diana's evening dress, a shirt that Elvis Presley wore, a poster of The Beatles with their signatures and the Batman costume that Michael Keaton wore in the movie of "Batman Returns" in 1992.

After that exhibition ends, more than 400 precious things will be auctioned the next day.

A yellow synthetic jumpsuit with black stripes worn by Buddy Joe Hooker, a stunt double for Bruce Lee in the motion picture Game of Death (Columbia Pictures, 1978). Only 30 minutes of the filming of Game of Death was completed before Lee took time off to work on the film Enter the Dragon (Warner Bros, 1973). Six years later director Robert Clouse returned to the film to flesh out the material and added scenes to create a finished film. Unsized. Hong Kong (CNN) -- Bruce Lee, the movie icon credited with bringing martial arts to the mainstream, has long been one of Hong Kong's proudest exports -- and come Saturday, Hong Kongers will have a chance to own a piece of history, when 13 pieces of Lee memorabilia go to auction.

The star of classics such as Fists of Fury and Enter the Dragon, Lee was raised in Hong Kong before moving to the United States in 1959 to teach kung fu.

Among the items to be auctioned by Phila China and U.S.-based Kelleher Auctions is a fur-lined, Chinese-style costume jacket, which was custom-made for Lee's follow-up film to Enter the Dragon. The coat was worn by the star in 1973, just before he died from a reaction to medication.

Other lots include signed student membership cards to Lee's kung fu schools, and a martial-arts book inscribed by the actor.

Anna Lee, spokeswoman for Phila China auction house, anticipates the auction will go very well. "It is the first time since 1993 -- when Lee's family auctioned 200 items in Los Angeles -- that lots of Lee items have gone on sale at once."

About 150 people are expected to attend the auction in person, with phone bidders dialing in from around the world.

Bidding is expected to focus on one particular item -- a three-page letter handwritten by Lee in 1966.

Written to Taky Kimura -- fellow kung fu instructor, friend and best man at Lee's 1964 wedding -- the note reveals Lee's hopes for the future: "I'm looking forward for the T.V. series of 'Green Hornet' to come out so that Gung Fu will catch on," he wrote in one excerpt.

The letter is estimated to sell for between U.S.$25,664 and U.S.$38,496. Phila China expects the 13 lots, which all came from the same American collector, to collectively fetch up to U.S.$113,000.

W. Wong Yiu-keung, chairman of the Bruce Lee Fan Club, says this is a momentous occasion for Bruce Lee fans.

"Those lots are meaningful and memorable that let us know more about Bruce Lee," he explained.

"Bruce Lee movies had a great impact on both Westerners and non-Westerners -- those movies strides across different countries, races and languages."

"It talked about his early days in Hollywood and how he taught megastars to do kung fu and all that. It's a letter written to his confidante in Seattle, his student, and his long-time friend."

The letter is estimated to go for up to $38,500 and all 13 lots -- which came from the same U.S. collector -- to fetch up to $113,000.

Other lots include signed student membership cards to Lee's kung fu schools, and a martial arts book inscribed by the actor.

Lee is credited with bringing martial arts into the mainstream and has long been one of Hong Kong's proudest exports. Even so, plans to turn his old home in Hong Kong into a museum fell through this year.

"Aside from little items here and there on Ebay, there hasn't been a major auction of his material. The last one we can recall is 1993 when the widow, Mrs. Linda Lee, sold like over 200 items in Los Angeles through an auction house," Lee said.

The largest auction to date of Bruce Lee memorabilia in the birthplace of the kung fu legend shot past estimates to rake in $211,000, with a fur-lined costume jacket made for an unfinished film claiming the highest price.

Thirteen items belonging to Lee, who is credited with bringing martial arts into the mainstream and has long been one of Hong Kong's proudest exports, went under the hammer on Saturday and were promptly snatched up by avid fans.

Fetching the highest price of nearly $74,000 was the fur-lined coat, which was made for the film Game Of Death and worn by Lee just before his death in 1973.

The winning bidder, Greg Manning from New Jersey, said that buying the coat was simply a way to show his respect to the late film legend.

"I think Bruce Lee is, worldwide, recognised as one of the most important people in the martial arts field," he said.

"He really pioneered the film genre and we respect him as a human being and a person for his work, and his art, and for what he did."

A hand-written, three-page 1966 letter to Taky Kimura, a Seattle friend and fellow kung fu instructor who was best man at Lee's 1964 wedding, sold for over $49,000.

Organisers had expected that all 13 lots - from the same US collector - would fetch about $108,000.

Other items that went under the hammer included signed student membership cards to Lee's kung fu schools, and a martial arts book inscribed by the actor.

"He (always) tries his best to search for excellence - that means, to challenge the unlimited," said businessman and martial arts expert Albert Wong, who bought several smaller items.

"This is a very good spirit - not just in martial arts, but in the business world, in all walks of life. It's very important. In fact, it's guided my last half-century."

The last known auction of Lee items was in Los Angeles in 1993 when his widow, Linda Lee, auctioned off 200 items.

(CNN) – In addition to a 30-month prison sentence, former Democrat Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. will now get to watch from afar as an auction sells off some items he forfeited when he pled guilty to misusing campaign funds.

According to a release from the U.S. Marshals Service, 13 items from Jackson's fraud conspiracy case will be sold in an online auction that will go live Tuesday and will last one week.

For sale is a variety of fur coats as well as film and music memorabilia, including a guitar signed by Michael Jackson and Eddie Van Halen with an initial asking price of $525. Also up for grabs is a $350 framed color photo from Bruce Lee's "Fist of Fury" that was signed by the martial arts legend.

Proceeds from the auction will go towards the $750,000 judgment against Jackson handed down Aug. 19 after the former representative pled guilty in February to using that amount of campaign funds for personal items and expenses.

The estimated combined value of all 13 items' initial asking price is $3,330. Unless the items spark a bidding war, they're not likely to make much of a dent in the three quarters of a million Jackson owes.

Jackson's wife, Sandra Jackson, was sentenced in August to twelve months in prison for her role in the fraud case. She pleaded guilty in February to failing to report nearly $570,000 in taxable income from 2006 through 2011.

A yellow jumpsuit worn by martial arts star Bruce Lee in his last film sold for HK$780,000 ($100,600) in a Hong Kong auction.

The outfit designed and worn by Lee in the 1972 movie “Game of Death” sold for more than twice its high estimate of HK$300,000, auction house Spink China said in a press release.

The auction, held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Lee’s death in 1973, offered 14 lots of memorabilia on Dec. 5 that earned more than HK$2 million, including HK$540,000 paid for a “nunchaku” or chainsticks, a martial arts weapon used in the film.

“Something like the jumpsuit has never been offered before,” said Anna Lee, vice chairman of Spink China. “Comparatively speaking, it’s still very very inexpensive compared with something from Marilyn Monroe.”

The films of Lee, who was just 32 when he died, have accorded him cult status, driving up prices of items such as a pair of his kung fu shoes from the film “Walk in the Footsteps of the Master” and a bamboo whip.

Lee was born in San Francisco and grew up in Hong Kong, where he began training under Chinese martial arts master Yip Man at the age of 13, according to the Bruce Lee Foundation website. He taught kung fu to support his study at the University of Washington, where he majored in philosophy, and later opened a number of kung fu schools around the U.S.

“I, Bruce Lee, will be the first highest paid Oriental super star in the United States,” Lee wrote in a letter dated 1969. “In return I will give the most exciting performances and render the best of quality in the capacity of an actor.”

Spink’s Lee said the Hong Kong sale was the first stand-alone auction of the movie star’s memorabilia in the city. The biggest auction of Lee’s possessions was held in Beverly Hills in 1993 by his widow Linda Lee Caldwell with more than 200 items for sale, Lee said.

Lee is best known for his kung fu film “Enter the Dragon,” and his role in “The Green Hornet” U.S. television show.

Lee used the guard from the training in his martial arts philosophy, Jeet Kune Do. The minimum bid is $6,000.

The booklet that Bruce Lee used to teach himself Kung Fu has sold for £52,000.

The Enter the Dragon star made his own modifications to the illustrated manual for the Wing Chun version of Kung Fu to create his own unique style.

Notes alongside the pictures included 'grasp the opponent hard when he blocks your right punch, and kick him while jabbing him' and 'from straight hand punch, bend and strike violently at opponent's temple.'

On another page he wrote: 'Right hand block; left go over right and right pulls back immediately and punch out or back fist after swing'.

Lee called the adapted style Jun Fan Gung Fu, which translates as 'Bruce Lee's Kung Fu' which he taught to others to make ends meet after moving from Hong Kong to Seattle, US, in 1959 aged 18.

Lee gave the pamphlet, which has his name and address stamped on the inside cover, to his friend and assistant instructor Taky Kimura, who continued to teach his art form after the star's death.

Lee's annotated booklet, which has never been published before, sold for £44,000 at London's Bloomsbury Auctions. With all the fees added on the total price paid was £52,000.

'The interesting thing is that Lee has annotated the pages with his own notes in English detailing his tweaks and variations on the moves.

Bruce Lee signed essay from high school, written entirely in his hand and personally owned by him. Essay appears to be an English dictation exercise, signed ''Bruce Lee'' on the front, written as a student in the late 1950s at St. Francis Xavier College in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Among the earliest known examples of Lee's handwriting and signature, we see a young Lee struggle to learn the English language and methodically correct his mistakes within the essay. At this time, Lee was starting to pursue martial arts, and the famous discipline and hard work for which he is known is clearly evident in his schoolwork as well; with his corrections, the essay appears near perfect in grammar and spelling. One can also see the beginnings of Lee's famous, flowing signature and elegant handwriting here. Lee writes about a stranded pilot in the essay, in part: ''The history of aviation is full of adventures, and their happy outcome has proved how great is man's ability to brave the dangers which confront him. Not long ago an aviator, while flying over a part of Africa, met with engine trouble at a time when visibility was poor, and was compelled to descend in an swamp at the edge of a large lake. His machine turned upside down and became deeply embedded in the mud. The pilot, though injured in the head, managed with great difficulty to extricate himself...He trod on what he thought was firm ground. Suddenly it moved and he found it was a crocodile. Only after five hours exertion did he reach safety; His clothes were torn to shreds, but he was thankful to be alive...'' Shortly after this essay was written, Lee's parents pulled him out of school and sent him to live in the United States with his sister, as they feared he would be killed by a local gang who Lee often fought with on the street. Fascinating Bruce Lee Letter Regarding the Gung Fu Discipline to be Auctioned
LOS ANGELES, July 24, 2017 – A handwritten letter signed by Bruce Lee, in which he explained the philosophical and spiritual underpinnings of Gung Fu martial arts, will be auctioned by Nate D. Sanders Auctions on July 27, 2017.

The letter is dated April 4, 1964 and was addressed to aspiring martial arts student Gene Snelling.
Lee began teaching Gung Fu in 1959. The following year, Lee opened his first martial arts school, the Lee Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute in Seattle. In the Spring of 1964, Lee dropped out of college and moved to Oakland to live with martial arts master James Lee. They opened a second Jun Fan studio in Oakland in 1964.

Lee’s letter reads in part, “…The Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute of Seattle began only six months ago. The aim is to teach the true 'Way' of Gung Fu all over the U.S. At present the Institute has around 45 students and meet 3 times a week - Tues. & Thurs. night 8-9:30 p.m. and Sunday morning 10-11:30 a.m. / Gung Fu means discipline and training toward the ultimate Reality of the object - be it on health promotion, on mind cultivation, or on self-protection. / No distinction is made to separate between the opponent and the self because the opponent is but the complementary part of oneself. There is then no conquering, struggling or dominating, but to fit harmoniously one's movement into that of the opponent (when he expands, you contract; when he contracts, you expand, each being the cause and result of the other.) There is then a 'oneness' result. / The closer to the source of true martial art, the less wastage of movement there is, and a good Gung Fu man is a simplifier - to express the utmost in the minimum of motion and energy. Thus profound simplicity, not fundamental, is the key word and simplicity, by the way, is the natural result of the highest cultivation. This simplicity is the last stage of art. / The highest stage occurs when a person is devoided of self-consciousness and his feeling and experience expresses himself freely. The actions will be being so of themselves without straining or striving.”

The letter is accompanied by the original envelope with Lee’s handwriting. The envelope’s return address lists the Gung Fu Institute on University Way in Seattle. The letter was consigned by Gene Snelling.

LOS ANGELES, July 23, 2018 – A special collection of martial arts immortal Bruce Lee’s apparel and equipment will be auctioned by Nate D. Sanders on July 26. Interested bidders may participate in the auction online.

The highlight of the collection being auctioned is Lee’s personally owned and worn Timex wristwatch, which is attached to a broad leather band featuring four metal rings and six metal studs. The timepiece belongs to Herb Jackson’s collection. Jackson was Bruce’s close friend, a first generation Jeet Kune Do student and maker of Lee's custom martial arts training equipment. Jackson’s son Mark Ashton-Jackson provides a letter of authenticity.

A watch which once belonged to legendary martial artist Bruce Lee got auctioned off at a price that is much higher than expected.

At a recent auction held in Hong Kong, a watch once owned by Bruce Lee has been sold for HK$225,000 ($28,700) - a 50 percent premium to the top range of its asking price. It was sold to an unidentified buyer as item 860 of 82 lots during the Phillips & Blackbird: Sports auction on Monday night at the JW Marriott Hotel.

The timepiece (pictured below) had been expected to fetch between HK$80,000 to HK$150,000 but was sold for a much higher price to an unidentified buyer, according to phillips.com.

Historically Interesting

Pieces of Bruce Lee memorabilia are usually hot items and the Universal Genève Polerouter timepiece (circa the 1950s) was described as a «very rare and historically interesting yellow gold-plated stainless steel wristwatch with sweep center seconds».

The watch came with a letter of provenance from its previous owner, Herb Jackson, who was Lee’s martial arts student, friend, and confidant in the United States. Lee had given Jackson the timepiece as a gift and the watch was handed down to Jackson’s son, Mark Ashton-Jackson before it was sold on Monday.

Friendship With Jackson Herb

According to the letter of authenticity, Ashton-Jackson stated the item was owned and used by Bruce Lee, who gave the timepiece to his father as a gift around 1968. Lee was good friends with Herb Jackson, who was into training equipment such as boxing gloves for Lee and other equipment to help Lee hone his powerful physique.

Lee had always worn his watches with a cuff-style leather strap and the item was considered a collectible that many Bruce Lee fans had been eyeing.

Wonder if it still keeps time.

Han's (Shih Kien) knife hand from Robert Clouse's martial arts film Enter The Dragon. The villainous crime lord Han had several different weaponised attachments to replace his severed hand, and he used his knife hand in the climactic fight against Lee (Bruce Lee), inflicting the iconic scars. Lee wanted the villain to have a unique and terrifying weapon, with this hand designed by Lee's student and friend George Lee. This piece was exhibited at a 2014 SENI show at the London Soccerdome, alongside many other pieces of Lee memorabilia. It is one of two metal sets known to exist, and another wooden set was also used during the fight.

The weapon is made of metal with four real, sharpened knives attached to a metal block. It features a removable handle, allowing it to be held by Kien and his double during filming. There is some wear from age and production use, including some scuffing and scratches on the main block. It comes with a letter of authenticity signed by George Lee. Dimensions: 43.5 cm x 7.5 cm x 6 cm (17 1/2" x 3" x 2 1/2")

Film fanatics with money to spare scored some of the most iconic relics from the last 50 years of movie making at the two-day “Hollywood Legends and Luminaries” and “Hollywood Sci-Fi, Action, Fantasy, and More” events at Juien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills this week. Bidders online and in person on Wednesday and Thursday vied to take home pieces of silver screen history from classics such as the James Bond franchise, Alien, Die Hard, Scarface, and the Harry Potter series, to name a few. Top items included 007’s famed sidearm, Forrest Gump’s Ping-Pong paddle, and Bruce Lee’s nunchucks, with the final tally showing that the cinephiles spared no expense.

Sean Connery’s Walther P5: The original Bond, James Bond, carried this sleek but deadly .9mm semi-auto on the French Riviera in his final appearance as 007 in 1983’s Never Say Never Again.

Estimate: $80,000

Final Bid: $106,250 (Connery’s Walther PP from 1962’s Dr. No went for $256,000 at Julien’s in December but, come on, that was Bond’s first piece—Er, gun.)

Bruce Lee’s Custom-made Wooden nunchaku: Also known as nunchucks, the world’s first martial arts superstar and a beloved L.A. icon owned these from the mid-’60s until his tragic death in 1973. Lee’s friend and student Taky Kimura certified that the master practiced with this pair to perfect the technique he made famous in Enter the Dragon, Fist of Fury, Way of the Dragon, and Game of Death.

Lee was said to have enjoyed smoking weed and ingesting hashish because “it raises the consciousness level,” but did the actor have a more serious drug habit?

Enter Robert Baker, who started out as a volunteer for the iconic “one inch punch” demonstration in 1964, and would eventually become Lee’s close friend and confidant.

Baker would be known for his role in Lee’s 1972 film Fists of Fury, but according to Polly, he was also “long rumored to be Bruce’s dealer.” The author of Bruce Lee: A Life stated that it was “assumed by many” that Bob, as he was called, simply supplied the actor with marijuana.

Recently released private letters between the two seem to suggest that it was much more than that.

Heritage Auctions has since authenticated and put up various memorabilia from Bob Baker’s Bruce Lee collection on sale, which includes over 50 letters that Bruce and his wife, Linda sent him through the years. Most of them were handwritten, and many used Lee’s personal Jeet Kune Do letterhead stationeries.

These personal correspondence discussed various topics such as their developing friendship, plans for their film careers, and Lee’s back injuries. Perhaps more striking, it also contains numerous references to drugs, including marijuana as well as cocaine.

The handwritten letters allegedly document different instances of Lee trying Baker’s “holy stuff,” recovering from their get togethers, and having nights out with “little recollection of what had happened.”

There was also a letter with a short-lived attempt at quitting.

“I told Linda to call you to forget about the ‘stuff’ because I really don’t need them in my training,” a letter from 1970 read. “I feel that I have ‘gained’ in trying them, but excessive indulgence of them just isn’t in my road in Jeet Kune Do.”

By 1972, as Lee left the US and moved to Hong Kong, the letters included requests to Baker for “advice on the possibility of shipping some coke to me.”

Hong Kong had very strict drug laws, but he supposedly proposed a plan on shipping drugs to an address under the name “Wu Ngan,” and hiding the contraband inside books and clothes. Wu Ngan was one of Lee’s friends, who had a role in his 1972 movie, The Way of the Dragon.

In one letter authenticated by Heritage Auctions to be from Lee, the writer ordered “COKE (in large amount),” “ACID (in fair amount)” and “HASH OR GRASS,” before also inquiring about procuring “psilocybin” — commonly known as magic mushrooms — after supposedly reading about it in a book.

In the same note, the writer also asked for “more goodies ready for shipping” including a “very classy derringer” firearm and a “cowboy holster.”

Later in the year, a supposedly “stoned as hell” Lee wrote a less legible letter to Baker about needing “some coke” to “help in the formation” of a character he was working on.

In various other letters, there were repeated orders of “C,” “coke” and “Coca-Cola.” There were also references to other substances, which he called the “holy stuff,” “super duper,” “M pills”, “H oil” and others.

Other letters signed by Linda appear to discuss follow ups on drug shipments and money orders. It was also stated that she bought a scale and would be inspecting the cocaine that would be sent.

“Enclosed you will find the $500 for the amount of C you quote that Bruce can get. I’ll measure it but the quality (that goes without saying) plus the quantity Bruce himself will have to judge,” the letter from 1973 read. “I hope you will send him the mostest along with the one oz of H. oil and/or whatever.”

Two letters also appear to have Linda thanking Bob’s wife, Bev for “past favors” and for “taking the risk and sending the last shipment to Bruce.”

In another note following up a new shipment of “C,” Baker was assured that Bruce had things under control.

“Don’t worry about Bruce using the C — he is not going overboard,” a letter signed by Linda in 1973 read.

Apart from details on drugs, one correspondence also revealed what Polly calls “a previously unknown mistress named Teresa,” as Lee seemingly tried to plan a secret meet up without their family knowing.

Bruce’s only typewritten letter to Baker from this collection. Sent from Los Angeles, December 15, 1969:

February 2, 1970:

It was a brief but definitely enjoyable get together. Thank you again for that “holy stuff”

March 6, 1970:

... By the way, wouldn’t mind going in with you for some of those “holy stuff” before leaving for H.K.

March 11, 1970:

I’m planning to leave for H.K. on April 1st, and definitely would like to store up on some “Holy stuff” to bring over there. See if you can come up with something good.

March 17, 1970:

Ordering and planning on sharing “M” pills with friend and actor James Coburn, who would eventually win an Academy Award in 1997. From April 22, 1970:

A quick letter to thank you personally for the “wonderful gifts.” I enjoyed them very much. By the way, when and if you should come down again, do get more 1-inch boards plus the same “M” pills. They do give me tremendous experience. Coburn likes some of them. I’ll give some to him when I get them.

Cancelling an order and trying to quit, June 17, 1970:

The question is, is it convenient for Beth Bev and the kids to spend two Friday nite, Sat. and Sunday morning at her mother or somewhere and make up some convenient jazz for I don’t want Bev to know about this. That same later also included a passage stating Baker would be “coming” to Hong Kong and has been cast to star in his next film, Fist of Fury. The movie was shot in Hong Kong late in 1971. “Cooly” send some Coke — How’s everything? Stoned as hell, but am working on the upcoming character. Some coke would help in the formation and [illegible] I want to create.

How are you all doing? We hope things are straightening out for you. Say thanks to Bev for taking the risk and sending the last shipment to Bruce. Don’t worry about Bruce using the C — he is not going overboard.

On May 10, 1973, less than a month after that letter signed by Linda, Bruce Lee collapsed. He suffered seizures and headaches, and was diagnosed with cerebral edema. While the reports and circumstances leading to his death were conflicting, more headaches and brain swelling happened again two months later. Lee passed away on July 20, 1973, at just 32-years-old.

In the years following his death, letters show that Linda still tried to keep in touch with Bev and Bob Baker. The latest from this collection being sold is from January 16, 1975.

“After living with Bruce for so long, I certainly have the strength and determination to keep going, as well as the ability to take life as it comes,” Linda wrote. “Like Bruce used to say — turn those stumbling blocks into stepping stones!”

Baker reportedly died by heart attack in 1993, at age 52.
