Not sure if this is really a martial film, but I figure it's sorta ninja (http://www.martialartsmart.com/ninja-styles.html)-ish, right?

EXCLUSIVE: Keanu Reeves is making a foray into television with Rain, an hourlong series from Slingshot Global Media based on the best-selling book series by Barry Eisler. The Matrix star will topline the globe-trotting action drama and will executive produce alongside Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, his directors in the upcoming feature John Wick, as well as Eisler and Slingshot Global Media, which will distribute the show. Rain marks Reeves’ first major TV series acting and producing gig.

This marks the first series from Slingshot, the Los Angeles-based company launched in February by former FremantleMedia topper David Ellender. The company, which has financial backing from private investment firm TPG Growth, is focused on producing series and limited-run programming for the U.S. and global broadcast, cable and on-demand marketplace, working closely with talent to develop its projects. “We are extremely excited to be working on a beloved property with such a talented and hard-working actor as Keanu,” said Ellender. “This series will be the launch pad for the company and highlight our talent-focused, quality-based approach within the ever-changing and expanding television space.” The series is expected to be taken out shortly, and a search is under way for a writer to pen the script.

Rain centers on John Rain (Reeves), abarry-eislerRain half-Japanese, half-American contract assassin who specializes in taking out his targets by making it look like death by natural causes. An outsider in whatever world he’s in, Rain ironically finds that the one identity he knows – that of being a hitman – is the very thing that prevents him from bringing others closer into his life. Eisler’s series of novels featuring Rain, on which the show is based, includes A Clean Kill In Tokyo, A Lonely Resurrection, Winner Take All, Redemption Games, Extremis, The Killer Ascendant, The Detachment and Graveyard Of Memories.

“As a huge fan of Barry’s work, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to bring his iconic character and incredible world to life,” Reeves said. “I’m looking forward to partnering with Slingshot on my first series, and reteaming with Chad and David.” Most recently, Reeves made his directorial debut with the critically well-received Man Of Tai Chi.

Given all the positive reviews on John Wick (http://www.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?68148-John-Wick), this might have potential now.

Keanu Reeves tries to be a tourist in Akihabara, gets mobbed by fans instead (http://en.rocketnews24.com/2015/02/12/keanu-reeves-tries-to-be-a-tourist-in-akihabara-gets-mobbed-by-fans-instead/)

You might think that after Keanu Reeves’s 2013 movie 47 Ronin – very loosely based on the Japanese story Chūshingura – became the second biggest box office bomb ever, Japanese people’s opinion on the actor would go down a little bit.

Well, you’d be wrong! On February 11, Keanu Reeves was spotted just walking down the street in Akihabara like any other tourist, and he was instantly mobbed by fangirls and fanboys alike, each one clamoring for the best “Keanu selfies” that they could get.

The most probable reason given for Keanu Reeves’s visit to Akihabara is location scouting for his upcoming miniseries Rain, where he will play a Japanese-American war-veteran-turned-assassin. Why the studios thought it would be a good idea to cast him in another role where he plays someone half-Japanese after the abysmal failure of 47 Ronin is anyone’s guess.

But hey! Who cares? Oh my god look! It’s Keanu Reeves!

While most of the comments about Keanu’s surprise visit to Japan were squeals of jealousy, there were a few others in the mix as well:

▼ “Apparently Richard Gere is here too. Japan’s air got a whole lot sweeter today. Better breathe it in while I can.”

“Maybe he came to Japan to avoid the paparazzi. How ironic.”
“He plays the role of an average guy in the street so well.”
“I think he’s just giving some fanservice.”
“His sneaking-skills have really deteriorated for him to be caught this easily.”
“Yeah, I’d definitely do a couple of double-takes if I saw him in the street.”
“Why is he playing all these half-Japanese roles? Do foreigners think he looks Asian?”
“Oh man, now I want to watch The Matrix again!”

If you’re in Tokyo and happen to get a “Keanu selfie” of your own, consider yourself lucky. Just be wary of any “red or blue pills” that he may try to offer you.
