Greetings,

I have been looking for this for some time. It is from the 12 part documentary "Heart of the Dragon", which was probably the first attempt to comprehensively look at a post Mao China. That series featured a snippet on Shaolin. It was nice to see the senior monk move because, since then, I only saw him in photographs. Here it is at @3:19:

Enjoy,

Hi MarathonTmatt,

I like the historical stuff as well. That clip makes me wonder just how much footage was shot to get that snippet.

Nice! He's Ven. Shi Suyun. There are other clips of him from the 90's when he's much less agile. This was great to see.

Right, and where it is... surely they didn't go through hell to travel to Dengfeng back then just to capture a minute or two of footage.

Sorry it took me a bit to catch up but I was on a very short vacation (http://www.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?68137-Is-Gene-Okay&p=1277646#post1277646). Shi Suyun was my sigong as I'm a disciple of Shi Decheng (http://www.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?44742-Shi-Decheng). Unfortunately I only met Suyun once and he was very old then. It was a very short visit to his private quarters in Shaolin Temple. He was suffering by then so I didn't even impose upon him to take a photo with me. He passed soon after. We published his obituary in our Shaolin Special 2000 (http://www.kungfumagazine.com/TOC/index.php?p=magazine&article=152).
