Well we never hit steel poles. But I know what you mean. Start light and build up. I kicked trees years ago with shoes on but that's as close as I ever got to anything like that.

Age 57 here. I always used a steel pole in the basement. But it ****ed off the wife because it was a support for the living room floor and shook the TV. :rolleyes:

Uechi-ryu and goju-ryu guys do pole training also.
It's a type of training that transcends styles.
