RIP Grandmaster Cai Longyun

Sorry I am so late in posting this but I was away on vacation (http://www.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?46834-Which-flan-does-Gene-Ching-consume&p=1289789#post1289789) when GM Cai passed. GM Can was our cover master for our NOV+DEC 2005 issue (http://www.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=624) in an article titled The Big Dragon with the Magic Fists: China’s Great Grandmaster Cai Longyun (http://www.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=625). He was one of the first six 9th Duan holders (http://www.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?38742-9th-Duan-holders).

He passed last December.

Holy Schlitz,

A major loss. Not only was he a Huaquan GM, he an inheritor of a Shaolin tradition that was rarely discussed at length. I hope he had opportunity to document that tradition.

RIP. May the journey of this great man be blessed. With the passing of GM Cai Longyun the CMA community has lost a living treasure, a man that grew up training in the old ways and was instrumental to establish the modern art of wushu. A legend.

Wow, I had not heard this news. I don't really post that often lately, but this master is one of my favorites of all time! Had to put my two cents in. A legend in his own time. Thanks for the link, too, MarathonTmatt. Didn't know of that site, either. Good stuff. Well, it is sad news in one respect, but in another - we all know we're just passing thru this world. He must continue his journey of life, and in one way, I celebrate his moving on. He has put in great work, and deserves all the respect that will be given him probably forever on. It's up to us to keep his name and ideals cherished and followed.
