New Delhi, April 17 -- Actor, who was last seen in the film, Jai Gangajal, is off to China for a month-long schedule of his Chinese film, True Heroes. And to make sure he looks authentic in his Chinese debut, he is putting in extra hours to learn Mandarin.
"I am really excited and looking forward to my new venture. It's been an amazing journey working with the Chinese production team. They are very cultured and are treating me well. I have been learning some basic Mandarin for the film," says Bhat.
Besides Mandarin, he is also learning martial arts, as he would have martial scenes in the film and wants to bring authenticity to the same. "I am currently going through rigorous training in martial arts," says Bhat.
Bhat says that he is delighted to be part of the film. "I am grateful to the producers who saw my film, Ugly, at the Cannes film festival and have given me an opportunity to showcase my talent in the Chinese film industry," he says.
"I am honoured and humbled that I am the first Indian actor to play the lead role in a mainstream Chinese film. I hope this is the beginning of several Indo-Chinese projects, as our two nations are culturally so close. Indians have always loved to watch Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan films," he says.
