There's at least some history/tradition info on just about every Hung Gar web site. Since it is primarily an oral tradition that has preserved the history there are differences from school to school. You can go to our club's page and take a Hung Gar Quiz. It's multiple choice and if you fill in your email address I will send you the results.

Regardless of where you get your historical info or what info you get, the history of Hung Gar is one of the most colorful and interesting in all of the Chinese MA. Good luck in your research and have fun!

Hey kungfuyou, for a good book on history check out "Traditional Hung-Gar kung-fu" by Sifu Jamal Al Bakker, it gives the history from several differant lineages, and also gives a couple versions of the " Legends".it can be purchased from Ryuku books & periodicals,Inc. P.O. box 535 Olathe, Kansas,66051 913-782-3920. I have also seen it on a web sight but I'm not sure who's? maybe it was Quadoman's
