A Prayer

"Grandfather,
Mysterious One,
We search for you along
this Great Red Road you have set us on.

Sky Father,
Tunkashila,
We thank you for this world.
We thank you for our own existence.
We ask only for your blessing
and for your instruction.

Grandfather,
Sacred One,
Put our feet on the holy path
that leads to you,
and give us the strength and the will
to lead ourselves and our children
past the darkness we have entered.
Teach us to heal ourselves,
to heal each other
and to heal the world.

Let us begin this very day,
this very hour,
the Great Healing to come."

-Leonard Peltier.

This is from the Amnesty International website. It is a letter to President Barrack Obama asking for clemency (to free from prison) Leonard Peltier. This is probably the quickest and easiest way to write a letter to the President of the United States concerning this issue. The Amnesty International link is here:

This is the last day for the Obama Administration to act upon this issue of clemency for Leonard Peltier. It seems unlikely that they will. But as long as Leonard is alive we have to try. Leonard Peltier is already a 71 yr. old man, exceeding the life expectancy for someone in his condition/ situation. He is not without health issues/ risks. Again, please take a look at the above link (last post) and sign the letter to Barrack Obama. This is a human rights issue, a political issue, a justice issue.

UPDATE: The Amnesty International writing campaign "Write for Rights" has now been closed. You can still write to President Barrack Obama though.

I'm sure if Obama had any plans of pardoning Peltier, he would have done so already, last month when he gave out hundreds of presidential pardons to prisoners. :(

Greetings Matt,

I found the amount of information that initial link was asking for to be a bit too much in this age of information. I deeply doubt President Obama has that kind of heart. Time will tell. His wife would have given the pardon a long time ago, if she was president.

mickey-
That is a good assessment. No President has championed Leonard Peltier's case, and it is looking like none ever will. So sad.
