At first, I was skeptical of this because it's by M. Night Shyamalan. I'm not really a fan of M. Night's work. But I was interested to see how James McAvoy would handle playing a character with a serious case of multiple personality disorder. James McAvoy gives an outstanding performance, portraying at least 9 of the supposed 23 personalities his character has. This is basically HIS movie. Each of the different personalities he inhabits has his/her own unique tics and a totally different bearing. His character is totally different from most of M. Night's characters who, for the most part, almost seem to demand the actors sleepwalk through their roles. Overall, I enjoyed the movie. I would not let the fact it's an M. Night movie discourage me from seeing this. This is M. Night's best movie BY FAR. If for nothing else, catch it for McAvoy's performance.

I hear that a sequel is already in the works.
