I had a question about a particular form from Choy Lee Fut, Sup Ji Kuen. Doc Fai Wong calls it Futsan Sup Ji Kuen (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptxq1zPe4zE). I think in Ho Ngau's lineage, they call it Siu Sup Ji (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MnC_EarcjY). Another version was posted on youtube as well (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hiw9TOX_RWw)

My question is that this form is pretty long, and I wonder if this is Siu Sup Ji, then what is Dai Sup Ji like? Is there a clip floating out on Youtube?

Also, does anyone train this form- Sup Ji Mui Fa?

I have heard of Siu Mui Fa, but never this one. It seems fairly repetitious as well.

That first one is virtually the same sequence we do, but we just call it Siu Sup Ji. The version in the video looks like Doc-Fai Wong's(?) lineage. But the way we do Siu Sup Ji has subtle variations (angles, rhythm, etc.) that, IMO, enhances its applications. Not only that, but the video version lacks fluidity and appears not to emphasize much momentum in the combinations...kind of difficult to explain, but it makes a big difference in training applications, especially for displacing the opponent's body during throws/takedowns. Maybe it was done that way for clarity in the video? Or that could simply be the way it's practiced in that lineage. I've seen many practitioners within DFW's lineage give demonstrations in that exact same rhythm. I'm not saying right or wrong, just different.

I've never heard it referred to as 'Fut San' anything.

For some of us Siu Sup Gee is just a short version of Sup Gee Kow Da Kuen or what some could refer to as Dai Sup Gee. For others Siu Sup Gee is an entirely different set than Sup Gee Kow Da. Doing CLF for a long time its my opinion that some sifu's create their own Siu Sup Gee and just adhere to the Cross Patter (Sup Gee). There are so many variations but yes Sup Gee Kow Da Kuen or Dai Sup Gee if you will is very long and very good for a practitioners endurance and energy.
