I was looking at some of those old videos of Doo Wai on yutube on Bak Fu Pai it looks like Pak Mei kung fu and southern mantis kung fu .

Doo Wai had a stroke. He was in a wheelchair.

Have not heard he passed.

Anyone else hear different?

I met Doo Wai once way back around 1981, and later (late '90s?) saw him again as one of the guest masters at a birthday banquet for Master Share K. Lew. He didn't demonstrate anything either time. I just found this video, which is the first demo I've seen from him. As to whether his system is real or not, I'm in no position to answer either way, but back in the day I heard some legitimately good MAists say he knows his stuff.

Greetings,

Here is a remembrance of James Patrick Lacy written by his wife. It mentions the passing of Doo Wai:

Also, read the first review of the Flying Phoenix Meditation::

It likely died with him and that other fella we came to affectionately know as "angry santa".

It was mash up stuff for sure, with lots of costumes by the looks of the youtube offerings.

Link below is the last I have heard of him. This came up months ago, a few years after that memorial site.

This demo looks to be from the '80s. At about 2:28, he almost eats a kick. At a couple points, James Lacy can be seen in the background.
