Hey everyone,
Living in China and just completed my 1st Duan in Xingyiquan.
I noticed that there is material for Jian, Gun(Duangun), and Nunchucks(erjiegun), but not for Qiang and Dao. Does anyone know why this is?
Just asking for curiosities sake.

We first covered the specific duanwei grading in our NOV+DEC 2010 issue (http://www.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=923) cover story (by me) titled Making the Grade (http://www.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=927). It's been nearly a decade now. How time flies.

The initial selection of specific categories seemed a little arbitrary, somewhat guided by who was in place politically to follow through on the proposal perhaps. As it has progressed, some of the categories have thrived. Wing Chun even held its own world competition which I posted about here on the WC subforum (http://www.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?71082-2018-World-Wing-Chun-Wushu-Open), and is covered in the issue on newsstands now, the SPRING 2019 (http://www.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=1472) in 'The First World Open Wing Chun Championship' By Benny Meng.

But back to your initial question, I haven't a clue. :o

Thank you Gene,
Interestingly enough most of the kids going for their grades were testing in Wing Chun(I will admit I was the only adult:D).
Here in Urumqi, Wing Chun seems to have done well, and occasionally you will see Taiji and Xing yi, but that's about it.
