There's nothing on it in the phone book, I've searched unsuccessfully on the internet, so all that's left is driving around slowly, looking at signs. Maybe one of you know if there is a place in the location mentioned above. Not just hamilton, but the surrounding area aswell, such as burlington and stoney creek. I would really appreciate the help, the only thing near me that isn't taekwondo or cardio kickboxing is Temple Kung Fu, which apparently isn't even real kung fu.

Wow, I was certain that this post would go without a reply.
Do your apprentice instructors have schools, or are we talking private lessons? Thanks.

not to detract from the previous posters business, but i just noticed a new school on main st. going towards stoney creek from hamilton. it's on the left hand side, but i'm not sure exactly the street number. i keep meaning to check it out (not even sure what styles they have) but i'm always on the way home from something and its not open. the signs say karate and kungfu. if you do ever get down there, let me know what their deal is. also there's a hapkido place up on highway 20 just outside of town, but it never seems to be open. maybe you know more about temple kungfu than i do, but i went in to check it out and it looked legit. never had the time or money to follow up there since i live closer to st catherines.

Thanks for the tip.

Temple Kung Fu is not legit, it's kempo karate shabily taught by a bunch of 20-25 year olds. They claim that their founder was the only outlander to ever train in the shaolin temple, but he said in court under oath that he was never in china. He learned kempo from his uncle when he was young and took it to canada and called it kung fu. I joined up there being filled with a series of lies and they robbed me of an entire summer of hard worked money to pay for the lessons. They are very, very expensive but I figured it was worth it because of the lineage which is pure fabrication.
Well I'm ranting, but anyway stay away from temple kung fu.

I posted a reply on the other thread where you asked what other people thought of my JKD from my web site.

To answer your questions on this thread. . . . we are taking private students right now, and have semi-private lessons on Saturday mornings. Right now we just train in basements, but we are looking to rent a training space for regular classes as the demand to learn is increasing! We're not in the phonebook . . . yet! :)

Thats interesting to know about Temple Kung fu. We noticed that it was closed a little while ago. We always make jokes when we drive by or see the commercials for it. "Did any one say McDojo?" :) Sorry to hear that you lost some money in the deal, but we've all been there. Just eat the losses, move on, and thank your lucky stars that you didn't lose more money or waste more time with Temple Kung fu.

P.S. - Thanks for the plug Lamar, it took a few days to get on this forum, and I couldn't respond. Can't wait for our seminar! I'm going to start posting about it on all the different forums this week!

Good Day,

Firstly, I would like to mention that this is an actual response form the management of Temple Kung Fu Studios.

Secondly, I would like to state that I have no dispute of what you or others have stated. In fact many locations lost their franchise for exactly the reasons that you all have mentioned. At some point things seemingly went terribly off track and since early 2005 those issues have been addressed and thankfully rectified.

As with any business sometime things do tend to go astray and it is for that it is for reason that you have seen a dramatic shift in our organization. In the past various owners of locations were conducting themselves in a manner that was not in the best representation of the organization and changes were absolutely made.

If you have any questions about Temple Kung Fu we encourage you to give us a call and we would be more than happy to answer any questions or address any situation or problems that you may have.

Thank you and good luck and good health in your martial arts training

Martial arts are not simply a product, they are a very specialised set of skills that must be passed down in quite a personal format, from the instructor to the student. The only advantage of a collective body of organisation is that universal standards can be set for that martial arts training and competition, thus hopefully providing a better all round quality. If you are attempting to 'franchise' martial arts, and your track record shows repeated faliure to enforce even the most basic quality control, why should people endorse you in any way whatsoever?

Is your motto 'train with us, we might not screw you over this time!'?

lol i did a couple intro classes at temple kung fu when i was a lil kid... my mom didnt know any better and ofcourse i was young and dumb and just wanted to train kung fu like on tv... anyways, as i think back on it, i cant believe just how bad that place is... 1st off im pretty sure its kempo or kenpo or whatever the fukc... i went and all they did was try and get me to sign up for all these classes, multiple uniforms for different classes etc... soooo bad... stay far away... unless youre going to fire bomb them, that is...
