Good challenge match clip with Joe Moeira

I like this one a lot for some reason. :)
Maybe cuz some of my own challenge match stuff went pretty much the same way. Ude Garami was a submission I found the most success from.

The reversal is wonderful. Makes me want to train my guard now :D Maybe I will.

it was a decent reversal, but how was that anything extraordinary? It looks like a couple of guys rolling around. I've used that tech many times to win as well. Are these world class fighters? Joe must have been playing with the guy. From how high he was, I think he could have dropped a few elbows.

Reversing someone who knows a thing or two about grappling is more difficult than doing it to someone who has no idea what he's doing on the ground but thinks he does.
The reason I think the reversal is the best part of the fight is because it is smooth, economical, and Joe is calm with it the entire time. Flows right into it.
Joe Moeirra is a BJJ teacher who's produced some very good fighters.

RYU...have u seen the last UFC...Carlos Newton vs. Matt Hugh??? Carlos had some sweet sweeps also...Joe look like he pulled an elevator against Zane Frazier...can't remember...but he did an excellent JOB. That challenge match caught on tape was sent to the UFC who then made him an offer...unfortunately he did not do well in the UFC.

Regarding why he didn't throw the elbows, this is because Zane was constantly working to wrap Joe's arms, which helps to prevents strikes and as well as seting up the upa reversal.

In regards to the sweep, pardon my skepticism, but based on your statement about the elbows (and the fact that it just "…looks like a couple of guys rolling around."), I have to wonder about your knowledge on the ground. If you have used that sweep many times, what are the three key factors that make it work?

Ok, watched it.

Why is it that people walk in front of the camera right when the really cool stuff happens? I was trying to frame by frame that reversal and it got pretty obscured there durring the middle of it.

I am a baby grappler, all I know is the absolute basics, so all I could really grasp was what was happening during the mount. It looks to me like Moeirra did nothing fantastic, except for the fact that he did all of the "simple/little" things right. Great legs, GREAT LEGS, kept the arms tied up, took his time, obtained a good position and did nothing to jeapardize it. It's weird. He did nothing that I don't know HOW to do. But I doubt in that situation I could have done it so very well. Now ain't that what it's all about?

The grappling was OK. Zane could have barred down on joe's right arm many times.

The initial standup was crude. Joe feigning with a front leg while being tackled was stupid from a striking POV. O

BJJ BLACK BELT...JOE FRAZIER is not known for his striking...he's a horrible striker on the ground and on the standup. He's more a less a point fighter ground fighter. But he's a great teacher and well known in sports BJJ.
