In bak mei some of the bridging methods include :
Soi Kiu
Lim Kiu
Fung Kiu
Sat Kiu

How do these compare to the bridging methods of Hung gar or choy lei fut or sth mantis.....???
Where are they similar ?? where do they differ???

Since most southern styles have emphasis on bridging techniques lets discuss them in commune.

Yum Cha
12-10-2001, 07:56 PM
6 sets of combinations of 3. sub batt. In Chinese numerology, is it 3 or 4 that is the number for death?

What is a better translation of mor? If not devil, and not demon?

Yum Cha
12-10-2001, 08:01 PM
A question: To start this pattern, going between the salute and the hands forward, one up, one down, does anybody roll their hands over and around to the inside before splitting them?

Not a test, just curious about a technique for bridging.

feldor

Yes, Right hand up, left hand down. Rolling counter and clockwise.

FT and Sui-fuw.

I thought that Sup Bat Mor reffered more to the demons on Chinese mythology, rather that Christianity. Then again, I could be clueless...

All Questions have been answered and discussed in the past.

Mo = Rubbing/touching/to feeling something

Sup Bat Kiu - FT why so keen to know something you already believe to know?

Sup Bat Mo - Both palms press forward in a sinking fashion, prior to splitting up. Well at least in our BM.
Do you know the name of this movement FT ?

FT, you negate things without knowing their basis. I do not live on this thing, I have a life and many other interests apart from kung fu, so I come and go as I like.
The initial statements belonged to nothing, you chose to respond to be arrogant and even to presume a level of superiority. The funny part is there were no intentions but presumed there were. The fact is you are confident of your knowledge and will not accept otherwise especially from me. The satisfaction of knowledge (confidence) is the commencement of not knowing. Never doubt just because you think you know otherwise.

YC, GBT yes we do also. If you took the time to observe the few times I visited you would have a better understanding. Cannon could teach you Gau Bo Toi with a whole new dimension.

To a guailou language means a lot, to a chinese it is taken for granted. So many names can mean so many things none wrong nor right!

Anyways, happy practising!

Yum Cha

Language is meant to join people, not separate them. The fact that language separates people is one of the great lamentations of mankind.

SM, perhpas you will recall that we were very anxious to see your Kung Fu, however you were very shy. I would love nothing more than to share kung fu with you and Cannon again, visitors are always an inspiration and I have yet to fail to learn something with each visit.

Sifu is away until the first week in January, if you and Cannon, or other guests would care to join us for some tea and show and tell, you are very welcome. Cannon, feel free to come on your own if SM is too busy.

You know where and when, as long as it's a nice day.

i talk on what i know about if i dont i shut up and dont make up fantasy chinese names, and try and catch people out.:o also i do love to read what people have to say and yes i have learnt alot from everyone on here, YES even you shaolin master. :)

yes i do know the names of the moves, do you care to share it seems you are a bak mei specialist.:p i responded the way you asked the questions 1st, see it how you like it, i really dont care! ive had enough of this sh!t. good luck shaolin master:D all the best..omie to fut

FT,

I have never said I know anything really, I just answer questions.
In fact, I usually say I know nothing.

I don't have time to read MA books, I work long hours, I study Law (which entails much more reading) and I do scientific research all in addition to a normal life. Tell me where would I find the time. You love saying that but there is no basis where in fact you are a FullTime MA you have much more time. Most of my current MA reading is of chinese magazines like WuLin and ZhongHuaWuShu....thats about it. I am writing a lot lately though......but work is really busy and it is hard.

Finally, as I mentioned before - I have no gwoon, I have no monetary gain from MA, I don't claim to be no. one and I practise because I love it. If you believe I am not good enough then that is your opinion which does not affect me at all as that is nor my reason nor aim.

So just be happy and don't let emotions grab you :-)

YC,
Cool no worries shall do so someday. Our Cun and Duan Jing differs because our BM is part of an integration. It may be interesting to you. Those factors affect the performance method and other features.

mo (mor) = adjective or adverb? does it apply to what comes before or what comes after? As in the sub bat, or the kiu? ( I know some say Sub bat mor, and some say Sub bat mor kiu).

Your question is very open ended and hard to answer. I suspect English isn't your native language? Try to give me some more to work with.

6 combinations of 3, all "evil"? Different to a Tiger in attitude, scary? I'm shooting in the dark...

I've heard that the Hakka styles use less swallow the belly, is that true, or only to non-Pak Mei Hakka styles?

Is Wanders or gypsy style related to Hakka people, or only coincidentally?

How do you place your chopsticks and teacup when you eat out?

Thanks for sharing. Now I am in your debt.

Pour me to cha, or teet gum yum, and I won't ask you any more questions, and hopefully nobody will bother us as we enjoy our dinner.

Swallowing the belly - crunching the stomach and droping when you punch, or strike. (Tou Lik? Chaum Lik?) I'm told that is one of the things CLC added to the Hakka arts, a lesson he got from his study of Pak Mei.

sorry  can't you say it in english?

t.t.f.ch,yes we use less:) as you might have worked out we keep an equalibriam and do not chum/chim[hakka]to much hardly at all.[but of course only practicing for many years]this should get less and less or you'll find out how slow you really are:D

do you believe in life after death?

--Sorry SF, don't know in English. Those are my favourite teas, "Tow Cha" is one and "teet guhm yaum" is the other. Sifu introduced them to me, and I only know how to say it in his way.

-- I understand, subtle movements are the domain of the learned students, gross exaggeration is a tool for training. The principle is the principle, how you use it is your measure.

-- I believe I don't need to know about life after death, as I can have no understanding of that in this life. My responsibilities are to the here and now either way. What will be revealed will be mine in time. You?
