In Choy Lay Fut of nearly every lineage (at least to my knowledge), there are ten basic techniques that nearly all techniques practiced in the style are derived from (or based upon). We call these techniques the 10 elements.

There is an illustrated and detailed description of these ten elements on our school's website. Please follow the link below if you are interested.

THANK YOU FOR GIVE ME THE INFO . I'D DON'T KNOW YOU WEB PAGE , BUT I THINK IS GREAT . I SEE NOW BASIC TECHNIQUES OF CHOY LAY FUT , EVEN 10 ELEMENTS ARE VERY SPARRING TECHNIQUES NOT LIKE HUNG GAR OR ANOTHER STYLES WHEN YOU CAN MAKE THE TECHNIQUES STARTING WITH YOU FIST IN YOUR SASH . IN CHOY LAY YOU ALWAYS MAKE THE STRIKES STARTING WITH YOUR FIST UP AND READY .
I GOT A QUESTION ABOUT THE CHOP CHOY : IS A DIRECT PUNCH ONLY OR IS PANTHER FIST ? I MEAN IS USED THINKING THE TECHNIQUES IMITATE THE ANIMAL PAW OR ONLY IS SIMILAR TO THE PANTHER CLAW USED IN SHAOLIN 5 ANIMALS ?
BECAUSE HIS NAME IN CHINESE IS NOT PANTHER FIST .

Rain,

Good thing I took a little Spanish in high school! Just as Jaza had confirmed, the chop chue is traditionally practiced with a panther fist. The power of the punch can be delivered with more penetration, as the panther fist exposes only the fore-knuckles as the striking surface. However, at our school we first teach the movement with a flat-fist to minimize the chance of the novice hurting his/her wrist.

BTW, I'm glad you found our website informative.

Take Care,
