Hi peeps - just a terminology question that's been bugging me

Sinawali vs Redonda
What's the difference between the two?

Kaitain,

Redondo refers to a twirling motion of the stick. The stick circles to maintain a flow and to generate whipping power.

Sinawali is a partner drill, most often performed with two sticks each. Designed to learn flow, coordinate the movements of one hand in relation to the other, etc.

So redondo is a specific sort of stick movement and sinawali is a partner drill (often seen emulated in the movies).

That's the short answer. :)

Actually, Sinawali isn't necessarily a partner drill. It is a term loosely translated as "weaving" and refers to the patterns created by the use of two sticks, two knives, stick and knife, etc. used simultaneously. This can be done as solo practice, though it IS often practiced in various patterns with a partner, since that's where it develops into useable skill.
