Infusion of spirit

What is 'Infusion of spirit' mean? (in relation to wing chun of course) I heard this, but am have trouble understanding exactly what it means.

Not sure, but it might just be another way of saying Yi or intent. As to when you strike. Releasing energy also.

I know this may or may not be off topic, but does anyone know if 'spirit' is the same as 'ego'?
