Salutation

I have noticed a difference in the way salutations are given between practictioners. In some instances it is given with the left palm covering the right fist. In other instances it is the other way around (right palm covering left fist).

Is there a proper way of doing this (right or left)? Any insights would be very helpful.

The only thing I've heard about that is this. In my school we do the right fist/left cup. We do this because right is yang and left is yin to us. I have heard, but am not sure and never asked, that in the eastern cultures (china mostly) that the left is yang and the right is yin, hence they do it with left fist/right cup. Now that you mention it, I'd like someone to clarify this if they know.
