I got to your response and then quickly stoped reading that post because its agood question.
Not taking anything away from S. Mantis, I prefer Hsing-I hands down. Being that they are both direct arts, Hsing-I is more so. It is not as busy either. It is a study in shapes, wedging, how to wedge through as an attack, utilizing perfect pushing power, while maintaining a shape, you become like a snow plow and can wedge through enything. Something that can't be wedged through can be pounded.
When the force is too big, use "gung fu", ie, maintain shape (shielding) and step alowing force to enter pr pass, and then Wedge through again! Or completely blow through it.
That is Hsing-I, it fits my peronality well. It fits with Ba Gua like a hand in a glove.
S. Mantis is my favorite of all the external arts though. It's so good, so I don;t want to make it sound like I am against it. I have much respect for the s. mantis players in the area.
