View Full Version : getting off track

Hey there posters.

I am finding most of the content in the forum since christmas to be way off topic and dealing essentially with a lot of things that have nothing to do with the drive of this forum.

I mean honestly, who cares about trolls and members who post fluff about nothing.

I'm sure we could get more out of this forum by maintaining a modicum of decorum and topical posts about our respective martial arts training.

If a particular member offends you with their idle banter, place them on your ignore list.
Hold back your urges to flame people who are only looking to clutter the forum with your flame responses to their flame posts.

Frankly, it is going to take a lot of effort to clear all the clutter out.

So, this forum will be what you want it to be. Use your own good judgement that you have developed from martial arts practice and study to determine what is and what is not worthwhile responding to or posting.

If life hands you a lemon, make lemonade.

peace

This forum has gotten quite boring. Trolls are boring, quit wasting so much space writing about them.

I could not agree more.

Yeah, I try as a rule to only respond if I have something constructive to add. Lately I find myself reading the topic and finding nothing to say that would be constructive.

I need to be better about replying though, I usually forget what I've posted to and respond to others way late.

There's too much macho posturing from trolls and nontrolls alike.

When my training is complete, I've got a mind to go down to Maryland and challenge Ralek.

I'll be training in the meantime.

Interesting position to assume Kung Lek in light of your past post in which you stated "We love you Ralek ..." or words to that effect. Ralek was in the midst of a Troll barrage and you essentially applauded him.

Ralek has repeatedly posted in a manner that directly violates the promulgated forum rules. For quite some time you have been aware of this cr@p and failed to take appropriate corrective action.

Now this is really a case of too little too late. Good point though.

In principle you are right, and I respect that.

The problem IMHO is that there are very few good KungFu related topics. If you bring up an old one, someone pulls the old "dead horse" line, and it gets flamed.

I tried to have a conv. about Judo with MPS. It was great, the first sensible post I've seen since Xmas. What happens? Truewrestler [who I never knew was a Troll :)] bursts in and calls me an ignorant troll and kills the thread. You can't talk about ANYTHING on the main forum anymore. I always post serious comments on the other forum.

This forum should be called the Trolling/Humour Forum.

IMHO, I'd prefer to talk with Budo about "Dangle the Wonder Mule" than to have my every comment ridiculed by some random single-minded BJJ fan (no offence BJJ guys)

At least "Dangle the Wonder Mule" et al makes me laugh.

You are trying to do a good job Kung Lek, but unfortunately the equation is that:

Ralek+Jacki+flaming - good posts = Troll forum.

Sometimes it gets frustrating when one has a debate about a certain subject, and nobody is willing to except any views other than their own. To many people being hard headed and not wanting to see a middle ground. But not everyone is this way.

Maybe, but if you take away any part of that equation, it goes back to good posts, especially the flaming. The anti-troll brigade is, IMHO, at this point surrounded in enemy territory, outnumbered, and the initiative has been taken away from them. They need to be disbanded and get back to their normal posting for the following reasons:

-Rolls didn't cause this much hubbub on his own, and his posts are indirectly about kung fu by disagreeing with the usefulness of kung fu(and we should always be asking ourselves if our kung fu is valid, and why)

-Whether Kelly or Jacki or whatever his/her name is is a male or a female is none of our **** business, female posters don't generally come here for anyone's sexual gratification, and it seems the people really upset about a hermaphrodite on the forum are only upset cause their not sure whether to hit on 'em or not.

-The flames are annoying, and play right into the troll strategy.

You got some knowledge, you've revealed a little in the past. If you want a good solid discussion board, offer some "real" info to us. That goes for the rest of you who are in the gate. We know who you are (well, some of us do)

The 101st KFO Anti-troll Brigade has had some MAJOR successes. Uncovering and humiliating ladyboy Jack the Lad, Water Dragon's INSPIRED Troll observation guidelines, Budokan's STORMING attack on Ralek's mother.

All of which have helped bring civil unrest to the board and to bring more force against the trolls.

The problem is that the Anti-Troll brigade has become so amused by their own silliness that they've started making stupid posts where Rolls dreams of being Fred Astaire, whilst living in an appaling jizz-covered hell-hole.

Rather than disbanded they need to carry out 2 main functions that seem to be forgotten:

1) Counter-troll to the highest efficiency. i.e. Ralek's new "Shotokan" post!!!

2) Actually contribute decent posts of their own so that good posts outnumber bad!!!

Sorry, soldier, the only counter-trolling that will succeed on shotokan is the time honored principle of ignoring it. Don't end up suffering the same end as the Templars!

Jack(i) was not a major success, as the troll diverted important resources that would otherwise be discussing kung fu. Technically, Jack(i) succeeded in his/her mission, and the brigade failed utterly.

However, your second point is correct. More kung fu posts.

I'm sorry boys, but you've gotten out of control. You've fought the trolls so long, your more like them than us.

Its time to come home.

so its not like im coming to the main forum for tips on my style.

me personnally i view the inane chatter as breaking the ice-uno forming friendships-imean if ive discussed the finepoints of busting jizz with sharky or pondering aloud wtf if jesus was real why hasnt he comeback to rid this plane of gda. So,when a martial topic comes up thiers no barriers, then its easy to pick at each other.

Oh man - he's right.....it's like 'Nam in cyberspace. Less pot and more porn though. You're right KC, this war's left me bitter and twisted. Watching my men get hit...... jizz-sodden UFC tapes flying thru the air........ taking cover from GrappleMags under the manky carcasses of fellow comrades....... the dank smell of troll feces........
It's left me heartless and cold. Hell, I can't even remember what KungFu looks like anymore..... I'm just waiting for my next tour of duty....... I'm a mess.

Point Taken KC. It's about time we all started talking about the real issue again - Canadian Pizza.

red--nope...cheesecurd and gravy.

Kung, actually, ap oweyn and I were just discussing how boring the forum has gotten. Bummer. We both really liked it before. I sort of don't know what's become of it.

I'd like to think I'm not contributing to the problem. I only try to post on grappling related threads or "common interest" type things.

I admit to having stirred up some trouble on the Wing Chun forum, but it was primarily directed at Whipping Fist and his awful attitude, not WC, and I don't mind saying it.

counter trolling is the same as trolling

people who respond to trolls make trolls successful, people who know a troll is a troll and still respond are the worst type of post/troll.

why, if you know someone is a troll, would you even respond in the slightest? Even responding to a troll post saying 'this is a troll post' is still doing exactly what the troll wants you to do.

i feel dirty and troll like just from responding to this non-troll thread.

but i realize most people are here to play around rather then talk ma, and thats okay - but then you ***** and whine.

whatever, Kung Lek, if he wants to waste his time should delete all troll threads, all counter troll threads, all anti troll threads, and ban anyone he thinks meets one of those categories.

much respect to SevenStar (I wont go on mentioning all sorts of handles, but some people on this forum have earned my respect and attention - whom i believe to be sincerely interested in using this webpage as a ma resource) and some of those others that got caught up in the whole anti-troll business, but give it a break already.

i think we're all guilty in our own ways, and i'm probably one of the worst. to illustrate this point, i'll share the following story ...

it wasn't too long ago -- a few hours, actually -- that i put a couple folks on my ignore list. of course, the first message of his i come across, i hit the "see this message anyway" button.

i did it again on the next ignored message i came across. while that message was taking an awfully long time to load, i asked myself, "what the héll did i even bother with the ignore list for?"

i felt a smidge ashamed and killed the window before it could load. :(

anyhoo, i'm going to think a bit about what i can do to improve this forum. each of us brings something to the table here -- let's make sure it's good things (like canadian pizza) instead of crap (like jack in the box tacos).

and merry prankster -- no trouble stirred than i can think of. you're ok in my book.

Yeah, lets stop ****ing around so much.

There's more people leaving than there are coming in.

I'm all for some intelligent conversation. Although I might not have much to say. :)

Hatred is a hard thing to suppress. When Ralek irritates you as much as he does me, its hard no to reply with a post, questioning his mothers fidelity.

CP, A forum just about KungFu? About as plausible as my paradise-island, with Uma Thurman and the fit ginger one from Buffy.... :D
