Haven't heard anything about this style in some time.

Anybody here practice this form or the style it came from?

I understand it is rare, but there are still practitioners out there.
Still, as northern styles go, it is almost unknown.

Do you mean Hua from Hua mountain? Master Kwan Saihun was a taoist desciple on Hua mountain here is his website www.easternhealthpractices.org

Hua, Pao, Fa, Hung & Cha are all what is some circles referred to as the five primary northern styles. Hua Quan is some what similar to Cha Quan & is considered characteristically a Long Fist Chang Quan style.

It is still found in northern regions of China and can be found, although rare, in Taiwan & Hong Kong.

The Zha Quan system (Cha Quan or Cha Kuen) system is traditionally made up of :

Shr Lu Tan Tui (10 line Springing Legs)
Zha Quan
Pao Quan
Hong Quan
Hua Quan.

They are all long fist styles so they have the low stances, kicking, extended postures characteristics of the style.

They are all fast and powerful...Still like a statue, move like river or move like lightning...and powerful.

Hua Quan has a lot of Qin Na moves combined in and throws...although they are hidden to some degree. It also plays on evasive foot work.

It is indeed one of the rarer styles of the Zha Quan system...most people are familiar with Zha (#4 or #1 routine) Pao (#3), and if you are lucky, Da Hong Quan...or Xiao Hong Quan.

(I like Da Hong Quan because it is designed for tall people....)

The Hua Quan of Zha quan is not the same as the Hua Quan of the 5 Northern systems (Different Hua). The style on itself of Huaquan is that of the "Cai" family. Cai Long Yun being a well known practitioner.

Zha quan's hua is actually just zha quan.
zhaquan initially had two components : Shen Fa Shi and Jia Zi. This then became Xiao and Da Jia Zi.
Then this became Zha and Hua.

Sorry...but without the actual character or a reference...merely a question about Hua fist it is next to impossible to tell which variant the person is asking about.

Also, if you view Hua Quan and the a Zha Quan set and see them as the same...it is like saying that all chicken dishes taste the same....there is much similarity...but then again, at a level, there is a lot of similarity in all northern long fist styles...and then at another level, in all Chinese systems....

It all depends on how much granularity you perceive or wish to perceive.
