Hi its seems I train a little to much and ended up busting the side ligament of my knee
It is not serious but it swell and and there was pain when I tried to bend the leg or do low postures, what exercises can I do to get out of this I already took some medication so the swelling is coming down but I m afraid of the so called “energy dispersion problem” that comes when you suddenly stop doing exercise. Can acupuncture help or can I take some Chinese herb or do some sort of liniment, please help because even though I’m a medical student I know how doctor act in this cases (rest and some medication). Just for information the part that is swollen is the exterior side ligament.

Careful of those knees. I've been dealing with knee pain for 11 years, then I had a stupid attack and started training in Southern Shaolin :D

First off, I'd get some repeated xrays, perhaps even an MRI. Let the western medicine turds (no offense to you, of course) tell you what they can see, then take that knowledge to your local accupressurist or accupuncturist.

From personal experience, I'd suggest the former. I got more out of it; ie, learned how to massage my own knees, and learned about herbal therapy. There is no quick fix, so long as you are suffering from inflamation, you pretty much always will. You can either deal with it, or let them cut you up and take your chances.

At this stage, I pretty much deal with it. I've been prescribed Celebrex, but I flat out refuse to take it. Whenever I have time, I make a tea from fresh ginger and drink it 3x daily. This is an excellent anti-inflamatory, and makes you feel good as well. I also use a homemade Tiger balm recipe made from:

Vicks vapor rub
vasoline
Cayenne pepper (hotter the better)
MSM
Eucalyptus Oil

Melt the ingredients together in a boiler. Pour into a glass jar and allow to cool. I use this daily, esp before training.

As far as strengthening, I hold a modified "Slide Horse stance" for 20-30 mins per day, or if at any time I have to be standing for a long time. Bring knees together and bend about 35-45 degrees. Circulate chi and focus on your knees.

Hope it helps! Good luck!

There are a couple of different herbs that you can find at your local drug store that might help with joint problems. They'll gnerally advertise it on the label so people will buy it. I've enver tried any of them myself but I've heard that they help. I believe one of them is called Chondroitin, or something like that. Anyway, there are liniments for joints. AWMA has one or two listed in their liniments section for joint injuries. I've never tried them, myself, so I can't say anything except who offers them.

I broke my knee a few years ago, and I sometimes have trouble or pain from it even now. When it gets really bad, I use Single Whip as a qigong. If you go into it from Sit Back Ready and hold it for a minute or two, it makes the knees feel better. I'd do it on both sides to make sure everything balances out.

Three Circle standing qigong also tends to make my knees feel better. It's for overall health.

I'd also cut back on training for a bit, to give it time to heal without out being strained too much.

Knee injuries really suck. I had my third knee surgery this summer. i'm all for TCM and herbs, but if you tore your ACL or MCL all the way through you will probably need surgery. Once a ligament is torn all the way it can't heal itself because it's not touching. Take care of those knees man, and talk to your doc about getting a good knee brace to suit your needs.

Friend:

I have a torned MCL, side ligament.
I am on my 6 month of rehabilitation. The doctors put me a plasters and that let me my leg stiff.
I know that now is used to wear a brace and do some movement in the flexion angle.
If you have swelling if beacause something is torned (ligament, tendon, meniscus).
I did some acupuncture and it was greatful with the pain and to low the remanent inflamation.
Also you need a program of kinesiological rehabilitation.
Estamos en las mismas hermano.

My treament is going to deal with improving range of motion and muscular strength surrounding the knee joint. Based on your post, I belive you strained the lateral collateral ligament. The first thing has it effected your range of motion. You need to do some basic strengthening exercises including: Straight leg raises, side leg raises, leg raises in a prone position, and inner thigh raisess. First begin with just your body weight and ankle weight slowly and progressivley. Make sure to do these exe4rcises while contracting your quads isometrically. Onces strength is developed, you can begin lunge exxercises and step downs. Step downs will help to develop the strength needed for tam tui exercises. There are proprioceptive exercisees that you should do, but are difficult to explain on line. Speak to a physical therapist because you need to first isolate the musclature to train and then integrate by doing functional exercises.
I hope this helps.

I seem to be preaching this a lot lately, but find authentic Dit Da. I slightly sprained my ankle a week ago and it is totally healed now.

But I use the Dit Da as a regular part of my training, not just when I get injured.

Traditional CMA have formula for health purposes. Some are available publicly, others are kept private. Find an authentic school and ask about it. I don't know anything about MA in Chile. Good Luck.

Dit Da won't heal a broken bone or ligament in two days, surely helps but in time as all treatments.
how do you know I'm from Chile? You can see our lineage in www.choyleefutchile.cl
I received acupuncture treatmet from sifu Luis Pedreros clinic, one of the most known master in Latinoamerica and Spain, and was very good. It helped where the occidental treatment did'nt help.

Jaza:

I was answering Shaolin White Crane and he is listed as being in Chile. You are right, Dit Da will not heal a broken bone in two days, I never claimed that.

However, true Dit Da will heal a broken bone faster than any other treatment available though.

I'm in agreement with BSH. A good Dit Da Jow will take care of the circulation and the knee swelling. I would use it in conjunction with what the doctor tells you. Also, try a little Qigong.

circulation/knee swelling

I would like to hear some opinions about appling ice to this particular injury. I understand the Chinese do not believe in ice therapy, yet my massage therapist (USA) swears by it.

Taz, how goes it , will not be in Tampa until May, order up some heat will ya!

shaolin white crane, estas recibiendo muy buenos consejos. Presta atencion, cuidate, todo es bueno!
