Who has seen this game? It is awesome!!! Arena interaction, new moves, new characters, old characters, revived older characters, smooth game play, aggressive strategy, super rendering, full 3-d IN game play, perspective changes on the fly.

A must play.

I heard rumors that now there a emulator for Tekken 2 arcade version. Its not as good as 4, but you can get it for free in your computer. I havent found the rom yet but it should be out sometime.

More on emulation:
Recently Marvel VS Capcom has been decrypted, its now playble on FinalBurn and other CPS2 emulators, sweet!

VF4 is making me think of buying a PS2, but its very expensive here.

XBox is simply unbuyable, i have seen cars for sale at a lower price than this videogame.

That's not Heihachi, that's his dad.

The preview clips are in the Media section.

The fight vids are . . . missing. There was a site linked to Tekken Zaibatsu (www.tekkenzaibatsu.com) that had vid downloads of arcade playing Devil Jin and Jinpachi. I dunno where it went.

Cuz the official site has the streaming media, and my computer suxors, so I get the soundtrack, but the image stops during the rain of feathers.

This' what I'm gonna do when Tekken 5 premiers . . .

I'm going to rent a H00J TV, rent the activities building at the local fair ground, hook up my PS2, and get a hella bunch people to pay cover to get in, little extra to play.

It'll roxors boxors.

From what I've been hearing, Jinpachi is unplayable in the arcade, but he might be unlockable in home release.

I've heard this is the best fighting game since sliced bread and I'm considereing picking it up. Here's the deal: Video game budget is tight. Playing time is even less right now. I already own Soul Caliber II and Virture Fighter 4. Is Tekken worth the 50 bucks if I can only play it once or twice a week? Is it that much better than the games I already own?

If you vote, then why or why not?

Hmm best fighting game since slice bread? I dunno about that but it's pretty **** good. My video game collection includes mostly fighting games, such as Virtua fighter 4, soul caliber. Tekken 5 has the old features like survivor, team battle etc. but now it has Jin's Devil Within instead of the previous Tekken force, you can customize your characters just like Virtua Fighter 4, and you can play the old Tekkens as well. Now i can sell Tekken 3 and 4.

I bought Tenchu, Mercenaries, Devil may cry 3, and tekken 5 all relatively around the same time and I've been playing tekken 5 the most. I would highly recommend this though.

Kristoffer
03-04-2005, 01:18 PM
I doubt it's better than Virtua Fighter 4 but it really comes down to personal choice. I'd buy it in a second if I had a ps2, and now I'm seriously ponderin to get one.

Starchaser107
03-04-2005, 02:13 PM
I have virtua fighter 4 , while it is a fun game tekken has always had better game controls imo. it feels more like actual combat. If you enjoy fighting games jp, you won't be disappointed.
another advantage to tekken is the rich history the charcters have. which is part of what makes it so enjoyable.
me being accustomed to that makes virtura fighter less enjoyable

Vash

Tekken 5 > All.

I'd argue it has the best graphics seen on the PS2 hardware, both in-game and movies.

The only problem: Jinpachi is unplayable. And, he cheats. A lot.

But really, buy it, love it, believe.

Why? Because it's Tekken, because it's 5, and because I said so.

Premier79
03-04-2005, 07:00 PM
I was really disappointed with not being able to play Jinpachi. I was looking forward to using him and cheating my friends just how he cheats me when i try to beat him. Gotta love the customization though, even though it's a rip off of virtua fighter.

Kristoffer
03-05-2005, 05:16 AM
VF and Tekken are different animals so maybe it's wrong of me to say something is better than the other. When you compare the best fighting games out right now, it's mostly just personal taste it comes down to. For me I find the VF series more interesting because I can see the traces of Sega. But don't kid yourself, there's a new game in town, and this one is **** beautiful. I'm gonna have to get myself a ps2 now

edit: so, is Jinpachi a boss or something?

well I realy haven't played it yet, but run a google and type in tekken 5 cheats and see what turns up.
that is if you don't mind not finding out some things on your own.
namco probably also has a decent strategy guide on it available which if its anything like the one i got for tekken 3 should be pretty good about giving you helpful strategies and combos for all the characters.

Kris if you can get these to play, you'll have some idea of how raven moves
http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/681/681191/vids_1.html
JP you really should check out the brady games site..or
practice mode
you can set the computer to any difficulty level there or just have it stand still
you can even have it do blocks alone attack only a certain range (high, low or mid)
shizzle.

Pro TaeKwonDo Competition in South Korea Now Uses TEKKEN Style Life Bars to Keep Score (http://www.fightersgeneration.com/news1/taekwondo-tekken.htm?fbclid=IwAR2a2yUnVJQFqzps5wWExqngLrSeyI n4tbweEcZ18EdaqcR_6GZqixjmyro)

http://www.fightersgeneration.com/newspanels7/tkd-fighting-game.png

Point-based martial arts competitions can be difficult to follow for spectators. The Korea TaeKwonDo Association recently debuted an impressive new piece of technology which implements "fighting game style" Life Bars (most closely resembling TEKKEN's) into a live martial arts tournament! Wearable sensors on each competitor's chest and head gear deduct points from their "life bar" on the big screen - all in real time. Each fighter starts out with 100 points of health, which depletes immediately onscreen after the corresponding "point" is scored. This makes it easier than ever for casual spectators in the audience to follow the pace of the fight and see who's in the lead.

In addition to the life bars, the round time remaining, competitor profiles & stats (similar to an eSport event), and even penalty notifications are displayed onscreen for all to see. The big-screen visuals are made even more satisfying with accompanying fighting game-style sound effects. It definitely makes point-style TKD bouts more entertaining to watch... here's hoping this becomes the new standard for the sport!
