HI! Just wondering if your schools have various stuff that they do for Chinese New Year? Any celebrations, parties, lion dances, etc.

We are doing a Lion Dance at Jacksonville, Oregons Chinese New Year Celebration. Should be pretty cool! But, I am just curious what everyone else is doing as well!

I'm treating it as a regular day, since that's what it is in this country :D

Our school normally does lion dance. We also usually have a quick bite after class - sifu's wife usually whips up something :).

My family will do what normally gets done at Chinese New Year - eating :D

We are doing a great big multicultural excibition down at the darling harbour Chinese Gardens. My sifu has organised it but there will be many cultures there all showing off there stuff.
Food, drink, dance, kung fu, lion dance and many other things.
Everyone is welcome and its on the 16th of Feburary so if anyone is in Australia at this time please pop on down.
You only have to pay the entrance fee for the chinese gardens so its dirt cheap too:D

I'm ethnic hardscrabble Taiwanese and was raised in a way that placed work above all else in life (including life itself), so I DON'T celebrate Chinese New Years or any other holiday.

Every day is a holiday to me.

But when I open my school, I'll try to think of something for my AMERICAN students. Some of the folks I know who'll be joining are going to make my life miserable if I DON'T do it!

We're going to watch this kung fu movie called Golden Spider and then we'll go to a chinese restaurant. Can't do anything else because our lion dance team haven't even learned to play the drums yet ;)
