Hello all,

Just to introduce myself...

My name is Joe Swift, and I am a practitioner of Okinawa Karatedo. As most of you may know already, the roots of Okinawan martial arts are believed to be, in large part, Fujian Quanfa.

I have joined this forum, basically to learn more about my "roots" in an effort to better understand my art. I'll probably be quiet most of the time, but I will also have questions for you all from time to time as well.

i hope you learn something. but, remember, its never to late to give up karate and start practice kung fu. knowing you have a problem is half the battle.

Glad to see you here. This is a great forum, with info on Ngo Cho Kun, Wing Chun, Pak Mei, Tai Tzu and lots of other styles that likely influenced Okinawan Karate.

As to quitting Karate for Kung-Fu, I don't really think that's the answer...I (and Joe) have a lot of time invested in several Okinawan Systems that have a lot of merit, however, the fact that we're here shows that we have a real desire to both learn more and help research Okinawan Karate's roots.
