Hey guys,

I do have a little story in my head, I wanted to put onto paper and send it to some Hollywood dude.

It sort of works on the theme of karma, and travelling through the Bardo and having been given a second chance at life, to undo those very things...

I didnt want to make it seem to Buddhist, non-sectarian so that people actually would actually see the "being a good person" instead of "this is an anti-christ movie". But as you all know, my grammer, vocabulary is as good as rotten eggs.

Any advice you could shed light on ?

Hmmm
Well I guess the first thing I'd say is that there will always be SOMEONE saying "this is anti-" something about anything you write. ;) No worries, you can't please everyone.

Write what's in your heart. Worry about the PC stuff later, would be my advice. But then again, if you're really going for something that a broad audience could understand I'd go with just the major themes in say Buddhist philosophy, etc. Lucas even did this somewhat with the "force". Every religion started trying to get dibs on the one he was "really talking about" :D

But do it from your heart. Make sure your story line is catchy, and holds the audience's attention. The trick to story telling is to make something meaningful to yourself that will still sell to lots of people. I'm definitely not saying to compromise anything you believe in (I never will) But do it in a way that will catch the audiences attention, and make them keep it in their heads.

Take care,
Ryu

Prana, here is a site that covers a whole lot of stuff regarding writing fiction for submittal:

http://www.io.com/~eighner/writing_course/oldquestions/qamain.html

Here's a page from that site that covers a couple issues of writing and style:

http://www.io.com/~eighner/writing_course/oldquestions/qa050000.html

Here is the busiest forum I've found for writers: Ironically, its not super busy, but there's still a lot of helpful stuff there:

I agree with Ryu, write what's in your heart. Also, don't sweat the difficulties with writing mechanics: I'll try to find you some grammar related stuff, but to be honest, I'd imagine its easier to edit a novel that needs grammatical work than it is to write a novel in the first place. The more you write, the smoother your writing will become. If I take a break from writing, its just like taking a break from kung fu: it takes me a bit to work the rust out.

It sounds like a good start for a story. Let me know if you have any more questions, as you helped me quite a bit with certain elements of my book. I'll post again if any more ideas strike me.
