Hello All,

Iwas just at my doctor and asked him about a few things. He told me to stay away from any workout suppliments due to the fact that I'm eppileptic. He did say that a multi vitamin would be good.

You guys have any suggestions? Any brands that are good? One's to avoid?

Thanks for the help.

i used to be a "the body is set up to work properly so we don't need supplements" kind of guy. as a student of both ayurveda and TCM this thinking seemed to be encouraged. however, i have changed my mind. the quality of food is extremely poor these days, the environmental toxins we're exposed to are extremely high..etc etc... it's a different world that we live in. i say do a lot of research and find out for yourself what's best for you. there are different ways to supplement should you chose to do so.

if you go with a multi, i can't recommend Thorne products highly enough. they're great.

Some of them are useful...some not so much (no cracking on me).
You should check out your insurance to see if they will cover a nutrition specialist or such. Just an idea.

good luck.

Thanks for the info. It was greatly appreciated. I am looking into some more and asking a few friends around here what they take to see what they say. One of my friends says he knows a good sports med doctor so I might talk to him.

Again my thanks.

Kung Fu boy,
Choosing the right vitamin supplement for your own body is not as simple as you might think. Everyone is different, and you should consider allot of factors before blindly starting to take any kinds of medicine.

You say you are epileptic right? You most probably take precaution medicine for that (Epilum, Rivitrol, etc). These types of medicine fall into the same category as antidepressants. After regular use, these medicines could break down the amount of vitamin B2 in your body, and therefore you should take extra consideration into taking B2 supplements. Paracetamol and Aspirin (often medicine for epilepsy also contains some paracetamol), would break down Vitamin C.

Then you should take a balanced Calcium/ Magnesium supplement, as these two are often overlooked when it comes to supplements. Remember to also consider your body’s PH balance, and try neutralising it with alkaline rich food such as spinach or wheat grass.

I suggest you speak to the Sports Medicine Practitioner. Your body is more important than to simply follow advice from friends (whose nutritional needs differ from yours).
