Nice perspectives on Wing Chun. I've had the pleasure of sparring with one of Chu sifu's students and he did everything you discuss on these forums, and made it difficult for me.

    Hi,
That's ok. I found one school that teaches WC in St. Peters.

I currently do and teach Balintawak. My main instructor here in US is from New York. I also go to Philippines to learn from the masters there. Balintawak is mainly a close-range style, it's like Wing Chun and Western boxing combined. We mainly use single stick as a weapon and a teaching tool to develop empty-hand fighting. It's a little different from your typical FMA style and still not popular here in US compared to other styles.
  3. There are no legit WCK schools in St. Louis. No one in my training group is interested in teaching WCK at the moment. Sorry.

What style of FMA to you train, and where/from whom did you learn?

Hi do you know of a Wing Chun school here in St. Louis. I practice and teach a style of Fillipino Martial Arts (FMA) and would like to cross-train in Wing Chun.

    Thanks for the recommendation.
  6. If her #1 priority in not to put her legs at risk, then BJJ isn't a good option (your knees will be at risk). I'd suggest she take up boxing. Have her visit Finney's http://finneyskickboxing.com/ -- they have all kinds of programs, from preparing MMA fighters to cardio boxing/kickboxing. And it's a full-service gym. She can't go wrong there.

Yeah, I also mentioned BJJ to her. I just want to keep her away from anything that'll put her legs at risk for more damage. Anyone in St Lou that you would reccomend?
  8. Vance, I do not have a school. If your friend wants to get in shape, I suggest that she NOT do WCK. I would suggest that if your friend wants to do a martial art to get in and stay in shape that she do BJJ.

Hi ya Mr Niehof. My name is Vance, a Wing Chun guy from Kansas City under Sifu Dale Vits. I have a friend in Belleville. She is interested in picking up martial arts to keep in shape and fitness. So naturally I suggested Wing Chun. She does have some knee and ligament issues. If you could help her with her goal, could you provide some contact info for your school?
