Master Sun Deyao

Since Master Sun Deyao (Hao family Taiji Meihua Tanglangquan and grandson of Hao Bin) was in town for the 6th Annual Warriors Hall of Fame Championship, he taught a private seminar at the Ohio Wu Tang this morning. Shifu Rob Peterson of the Ohio Wu Tang and I were invited to learn the form, Luohan Chui.

Master Sun is a very thorough instructor. He helped us with our shenfa and was quick to show us the applications to all the movements of the form. He also spent time explaining the important theories of the Hao family mantis system found in the form. He allowed questions (anyone who knows me knows that I am the King of Questions) and gave clear and precise answers.

Though the form is titled Luohan chui, it is clearly a mantis form from start to finish. It emphasizes quick fist, palm, foot and elbow combinations coupled with sealing and hooking techniques.
