Actually, "beef" IS the lingo being used today, at least in the hip hop world. You know what goes around come around.

Just curious, but not sure why...
Was it common for Chan Tai Shan to issue rules of any sorts or not fight at certain times? I thought it was all "just another day at the office" for him???
Not that I care, but it seems to me that you guys should be fighting with no rules, in an alley, with a fire burning out of a dumpster or some such, and at midnight, or sunrise. No matter what, you guys need to fight outside somewhere. Even if you fight in a ring outside, that is okay. But no gloves! That should go withought saying. Film that!:D Seriously be as real as you can about it. I'm not saying to choose weapons, just keep it "old school." Otherwise, I'm not buying a copy of New York Avenger.
Whats the 'Tale of the Tape'?
Height, weight, reach, "record", etc.?

home slice is def, B.
That might be but I was intending more of an analyses.
I agree it should have been old school. Like at the first hint of trouble you drop the keyboeard and pay the other guy a visit. Not all this public posturing.
If you want to add the posturing and hype set a date at a sanctioned event and start the promotions.
yes, yes they are.
No. that three techniques combo is not shadowboxing. that is merely drilling a combination. It's a drill, not a form. shadowboxing is spontaneious - I'm not moving the same, slipping at the same increments, throwing the same combinations, etc. like you do in forms. There are similarities, but they are not the same thing. shadowboxing isn't catalogging techniques. Shadowboxing does not have hidden applications.Quote:
When you see a MMAist shadow boxing a three piece combo. That is a form. It is a very short form. It is a collection of technique that that fighter uses. Jab jab hook is a form.
forms do not teach usage. If you are using forms for that, you will never learn properly, in the sense of timing, distancing, set up, etc. This is what drilling and sparring are used for.Quote:
The idea of it taking years to master one form is true. This is not in the sense of a teacher moving a fist a half of a centimeter to the left. That is bull****. Mastering one kick takes a lot of time and practice. However, most people just practice a punch or a kick until they do basically do it or do it fast. They must master the usage too, but in most schools they do not.
In a sense, they are. You can look at a 3 piece as a section of a form. In my style the Pek Kwar short fighting and the Pek Kwar III form are a bunch of 3 pieces 4 pieces and 2 piece strung together. Therefore, a 3 piece could be considered a very short form. However, if you don't want to think of them as such. It does not distort what forms are. You agree that they are collections of techniques.
In most cases, forms are not for usage. The techniques have been perverted in the form for whatever reason.
I was point was that most teachers teach the form (the look) and not the usage, but this does not belittle what forms are for.
[QUOTE=Lama Pai Sifu;715178]Amen to that my brother!
I think Gus has issued at least one other challenge since his surgery. Frankly, I don't know why he is doing this. And now he is briging up his hip. It didn't seem to bother him 6 pages ago.
I hope no one gets hurt, I've known both guys for a long time. This fight started 19 years ago, so I think time limits are in order!
And no one has to wear speedos. Shorts are fine, T-shirt, MMA gear, tank top if you want, or no shirt is good. I wouldn't want to wear sweatpants or Kung-Fu pants as they would be a disadvantage, but I would assume it's okay with both guys. Just gloves, wraps and a cup. Again, this is for SAFETY not to impede on anyone's skills.
"Have at you!"[/QUOTE
Mike it's quite obvious you have a hidden agenda here.
The only other challenge I issued was to KF, but that didn't work out since he wasn't able to meet me half way.
I was the one flying out to california, spending time and money not him all he had to do is get in the car and meet me in sandiego, since I have student their with a school. Just in case knife didn't show I would have at the very least have time to spend with one of my friends and students.
As far as Ross is concerned I just asked if it would be feasable to switch to saturday since I can't find coverage on Friday.
Let's see your not willing to come on saturday because it's your wifes birthday, and your not even involved in this.
I see nothing wrong with moving the date to saturday, and by the way originaly I agreed to fight on Friday at 12 midnight after buisiness hours.
Then you jumped in with all these rules. The whole idea was to test out wether MMA arts works against Kung Fu so I said ok China town style no rules.
Now you are trying to set up a MMA venue what will that prove?? I just wanted to go down toss him a beating then go home.
I spoke to Ross and he's going to the Mohegan sun this weekend anyway, so he hung up on me 5 times as I tried to set a date for a Saturday any Saturday.
I don't see that as backpedaling, these guys just won't bend to make it happen so what's the point.
Anyway I will leave it an open challenge for any Saturday at Rosses earliest convenience.
When it came to the novice Mark Negron Dave was willing to go at him closed door without any rules,,,so why would he make an exception for me.
And as far as youre concerned it realy has nothing to do with you anyway.
And if I were to have witnesses it would be a respected sifu not you.
A study of the fool, up close and personal.....
You owe Knife Fighter $50
He "accepts"... but wait!
He accepts if he can bring armed guards
By this point, the day and time had already been repeated FIVE TIMES
I already had said Friday at 5 pm over six times at this point
Looks like he agreed to 5 pm, but of course, the back peddling had only begun...
Right, I'm really hard to find  (hint, look at the sig line)
He had already agreed to Friday, now he wants to change the day.... he issued the challenge, but he doesn't want to go out of his way to actually accept
Issuing challenges then suddenly remembering he is busy "that day"
YOu called me up. I told you there was nothign to talk about. You talked trash and I called you on it. You said
I set the time and you suddenly can't make it.....
PATHETIC
Dave I have a buissness just like you, And I didn't know you have plans for Saturday. Just pick a saturday any saturday I just can't do it this Friday, my request sounds reasonable.
As far as agreeing to fight on Friday I decided that late last night and after making a couple of calls and I could not get any coverage.
And as far as backpedaling is concerned how long do you need to train to fight Negron when will that happen??? And how come your fighting with him with no rules??? HMMM did you ever think of running for office??
I didn't even bother to quote all the lame lines about rules and the biotch whine about how your hip is all f-ed up.... you talked trash and you got called on it, now face up to it if there is any man left in you...
I know what you are all about, which is why I called you on it immediately. Now pay knife fighter his $50, have a coke and a smile and you know the rest
Well I don't know why we have to close our schools down and all, I think it's very reasonable to fight when the schools are closed.
Don't you see the logic in that??? Tell you what dave I'l just stop by one day and as far as knife is concerned check mate you got me If he PMs me with an adress I'l put the $50 in the mail.
