Watched episode 34 finally
To do the series justice, I wont offer spoilers with the details, Ill give my holistic opinion however.
All in all it's a sad story, heads up, yet its supposed to be historically aligned to a degree, so the outcome was known before hand. Just research "General Qi Jigwang" or Shaolin Monk Yuekong, who was a warrior monk during the time Jiajing Emperor and lead warrior monks in battles against pirates. You can get the outline of the story from learning about them.
one funny part of the series, has nothing to do with the story, is that during the final battle in the last episode, you can see a modern van in the camera frame, that comic relief was great. Here we are in feudal China with vans parked on battlefields lol. :p

the story is layered in a poetic way. the historic tragedy, struggles, and victories, were used to express the essence of a Shaolin Warrior Monk's philosophy, or what its rooted in. So even tho there is the seemingly sad story, there are great lessons in Chan and Wu that non generic, and applicable to daily life. Its really a Chan Wu Yi roller coaster. With all the war and turmoil, "Chan before Wu" is still invoked several times in action and verbal dialogue.
its definitely worth a binge watch if you are fan of Shaolin in any form.
