A Question about Cramps

My girl suffers from painfull menstral cramps. I was woundering if there are any specific qi-gong moving or standing exercises, or accupressure techniques to ease the pain? Any information would be helpfull.

1. Drinking more water
2. Doing kegel excercises

get her some Vitex (chasteberry) from the healthfood store. about 15 drops is the dose. Also crampbark and dong quai. Works great.

It's ironic that this post was answered by the ladies of the forum...i thought it was about leg/or muscle cramps ;)

I suggest adding another acupressure point to work on, but again ONLY if she is NOT pregnant.

Find the inside anklebone of either ankle. From the top of that bone, measure four fingerwidths up the inside of the lower leg. At that height, find the inside edge of the shin bone (tibia). You will press in just behind the inside edge of the shin bone at that height. Use moderate pressure for one full minute, then do the exact same thing for the other leg for one full minute. This point is called Spleen 6 in TCM, and is the major Yin energy point in the body, as it marks the crossing of three Yin meridians (spleen, liver, and kidney) at the same spot.

The point may be tender, especially when she is menstruating, but the relief it brings can often be worth it.

they can be due to one of three causes...not enough chi (cramps occur prior to menses, cramps occur during menses..stagnated chi and blood due to internal cold or after..stagnated blood.
If due to stagnated chi and blood..have her take tea of carthamus tinctorious (safflower) and dry ginger with a warm water bottle on the abdomen. If befor..take chi tonifying herbs like ginseng, radix codonopsis, licorice etc. If due to stagnated blood...stong tea of carthamus t. and Myrrha

You or her.spread your straightened fingers-out. Fluxuate (move it up/down or left/right or in/out...), at least five times. Then put the hand over the cramping area. Keeping it still is probabally best. But slowly covering the whole area or parts can also be good...

we can make various suggestions but the key is to have someone take an assessment of her particular situation.

Her cramps could have countless causes that we can't assess over the net.

Blindly giving herbs and working points could be dangerous...especially the herbs.

Walk the circle is right, take her to the doc. I know it hurts martial ego to come within 2 miles of a doctors office but what the heck. If he hands her some Midol and says call me in the morning, try an herb called "motherwort". Make a tea with it, one teaspoon for a full glass of boiled water. It will taste like dirt, even with suger. Get her a heating pad, plant her on the couch and get to work with the hands on healing. I recommend one hand on her lower back and one below the stomach, run a current this way. If she is too much in pain for you to touch her, have her moan it through. P.S. dont start telling her to do all this while she is in pain, she will not like that. good luck

The herbs I have recommended will not harm her in the least. In fact weak concoctions of carthamus t. can be taken to regulate the menses...inform with knowledge, not ignorance and fearmongering.
your suggestion to see a professional is good..I suspect she already has...my suggestion is she see a TCM MD and the herbs were to let her know that there are TCM treatments for her condition.
Acupressure done by a person qualified in TCM will also do no harm unless there is a tumor.
