during class we worked some counterfighting - using lead leg kicks against the jab and the cross. After class I sparred several rounds with one of the intermediate students and put in four rounds on the heavy bag. I also spent some time throwing a 6lb medicine ball with my kid.

3/13 muay thai -
boxing, lots of boxing. Tonight we drilled our hands and footwork for most of class - angles were the name of the game. We worked circling and basic counterfighting and using those tools to establish a dominant angle from which to attack. We finished up with some interval training. Afterward, I sparred several rounds with one of the intermediate students.

3/14 - muay thai
tonight coach and I were working with noel and jp - noel has his first fight coming up in april. We drilled hands and footwork, worked the mitts and the heavy bag. jp has one fight under his belt, but he's WAY too stiff. we're trying to find a way to get him to relax, as after almost a year of training, he is still unable to. Somehow though, he makes his stiffness work for him. we also had jp focus on footwork and hand techniques.

3/16 muay thai -
nobody showed up for the conditioning class tonight - focking slackers. I was on my own, but put in a decent amount of work.
5 rounds of each:
heavy bag
shadow boxing
double end bag
jump rope
2 rds, 4 min each
abs

3/19 - teacher's meeting
nothing special here for the most part. just school business. However, we decided that due to the recent lack of participation in the conditioning class that it would be turned into an invitation only advanced training / fight prep class. we will spend more time training the guys on advanced topics we can't always get to in class with the influx of beginners and give the guys who fight an extra day of hard training.

worked boxing, focusing on the uppercut. spent the last half of class drilling the roundhouse kick.
after class I put in a couple rounds of sparring, 2 rounds on the heavy bag and 5 rounds on the double end bag.

there's been a distinct lack of iron in my life over the past several weeks, which I put an end to today. since it's been so long, I didn't go heavy, but it still felt good to lift again.
squats
225 x 4 x 10
bench
225 x 4 x 7
dips
3 x 10
dumbell curls
40 x 4 x 10
