Due to the nature of 'professional wrestling' ... this does not suprise me at all.;)
I thought TNA used the 6-sided ring, not WWE.
Just saw a UFC ad saying Lesner was going UFC in February.....
If MMA didn't have a steroid controversy before, it does now.
Lesnar is fighting Frank Mir, a BJJ Black Belt and former HW champion.
I am interested to see if he lost alot of muscle as he will no doubt be steroid tested.
A part of me died inside when I heard Jim Ross describe John Cena as a "ground and pound guy" one time. Then another part of me laughed out loud.
WWE doesn't answer to the boxing commission. It's actually classified as entertainment. There's more money for the top WWE champs, but there's also less legal protection in terms of safety requirements.

Bobby says evil forced him out
By ROB McNICHOL and MATTHEW COOPER
Published: 23 Jan 2008
ONE of the WWE’s brightest hopes for the future, Bobby Lashley, has sensationally quit the company claiming that “evil has prevailed”.
The former ECW champion, 31, posted a statement on his official website reading: “I am sorry to everyone here but I am serious when I say I won't be back.
“Everyone wants to come here and hear the real story and I am telling you the real story.
“Circumstances which are out of my control left me no decision but to leave the WWE.
“I can't go into details of this now but like I said before sometimes people will hate you personally and try to destroy you which has happened here.
“Evil has prevailed. However, like I said before, if you continue your struggle doors will open around these people.
“You have not seen the last of me so please don't stop your support.
“Add Bobby Lashley to the list of RECENTLY RELEASED!”
Out since July with a shoulder injury, Lashley was due to return to action this week. Instead he now joins girlfriend Kristal Marshall on that released list.
Pay cheque
Speculation is already rife that his intended destination will be the world of UFC and mixed martial arts, although TNA will no doubt be *****ing up their ears at this news.
Lashley’s WWE career peaked at WrestleMania 23 last year when he defeated Umaga in a match which involved WWE owner Vince McMahon getting his hair shaved at the hands of Lashley and US mogul Donald Trump.
However, wrestlingnewsdesk.com report that career highlight may have been one reason that led to him quitting, with the star unhappy about his pay cheque for the event.
The website also reveals that Lashley hasn’t even spoken to McMahon yet, only informing WWE executive vice president of talent relations John Laurinaitis about his desire to quit.
The federation are expected to announce Bobby’s departure as soon as the paperwork is sorted.
pro wrestling hasn't been worth watching since the late 70's

Oh man!
I remember my brothers and I would get home from church and the first thing was to turn on wrestling, and Blackjack Mulligan would do the claw, and bamas would start bleeding and they would pop that big red "X" on the screen to censor it.
It's amazing what was considered "shocking" back then, compared to nowadays.
They need to bring back old school finishing moves like the claw, but definitely not in Von Erich way.
IMO:
The pro wrestling racket is striving to keep up the image of "Being Real"
If they dont add MMA style atmosphere to their stage act, there viewers will possibly start vering away. Its just a matter of supply and demand really.
Anyone going to watch this? I'd love to get a report posted here.

Former WWE star Bobby Lashley makes MMA debut
By Sharon Robb | South Florida Sun-Sentinel
December 11, 2008
WWE Presents Wrestlemania 23
COCONUT CREEK - Bobby Lashley sees the look on people's faces when he tells them he wants to win mixed martial arts titles.
The strapping hulk of a man can hear it in their voices when he is mentioned in the same sentence as World Wrestling Entertainment and Kimbo Slice.
"Those are the people who don't know me, what I'm about or where I come from," said Lashley between two-a-day workouts at American Top Team.
At 32, Lashley is preparing to make his heavyweight pro debut Saturday night on the Mixed Fighting Alliance "There Will Be Blood" card at AmericanAirlines Arena. He will fight Joshua Franklin, a 30-year-old fighter also making his pro debut.
The former WWE fan favorite is part of a growing trend of wrestlers who hope to make it as professional fighters, including UFC champion Brock Lesnar, who recently knocked off legend Randy Couture.
"It wasn't only about the money in the WWE, I enjoyed the crowds," Lashley said. "I was in WrestleMania representing Donald Trump [in 2007] in front of 85,000 people [at Ford Field in Detroit]. It was crazy.
"I know what people are saying. I think I lost some of my credibility as a fighter, wrestler and competitor being in the WWE. I know I have a lot to lose."
Lashley knows what he's up against in the mixed martial arts world. Every day he looks around on the mats, the cage and boxing ring at ATT and sees some of the world's best fighters well-versed in wrestling, submissions and striking.
However, since the UFC began 15 years ago, athletes with strong wrestling backgrounds have been successful. In the 1990s top amateur wrestlers Mark Coleman, Don Frye, Kevin Randleman, Dan Severn and Couture have all fought their way to the top for titles in the UFC, where top stars now command millions for fights and endorsement deals.
What the skeptics don't know about Lashley is that before the WWE he was an accomplished wrestler for 18 years with Olympic aspirations. He chose the WWE "because I needed the money at the time and didn't know if the opportunity would ever present itself again."
Born in Junction City, Kan., the four-time All-American won three national wrestling titles (1996-98) for Missouri Valley College. He then joined the Army, where he continued to wrestle, and won a silver medal at the World Games, which set him up as an Olympic hopeful.
In 2003, Lashley was still wrestling and trying to make a transition into mixed martial arts when he was injured during a bank robbery in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he lived and hoped to train for the 2004 Olympic trials.
"I was going to the bank to put some money in and it got robbed," Lashley said. "During the robbery I took a dive from a bullet that was shot at the back of my head. I busted my knee wide open and it ended my amateur wrestling career. It turned out to be my calling at the time."
While rehabbing after a second surgery, the WWE came knocking "because I was big and they liked my look [6 feet 3 and 255 pounds of muscle] and athletic ability." He signed with the WWE in November 2003 and moved into "pro wrestling and entertainment." He was released on good terms in January.
"The WWE signed me right away and it kept me in great shape for mixed martial arts, which was always in the back of my mind," Lashley said. "I knew I would always have an opportunity to come back and compete someday, even though people discredit what I did before the WWE."
Along with opportunity came sacrifices. He moved to South Florida to train and build a new resume. His children, Kyra, 4, and 4-month-old son Myles live in Parker, Colo., where he visited for Thanksgiving before resuming training.
"That's the tough part, but it's what I have to do to get to that next step, " Lashley said. "I am going to prove myself. I want to show people what I can do. This is where I want to be right now, without a doubt."

Marvez: Bobby Lashley pumped about MMA debut Saturday
Submitted by SHNS on Thu, 12/11/2008 - 14:34.
World Wrestling Entertainment fans can still dream of a Bobby Lashley-vs.-Brock Lesnar matchup.
It just won't be happening in a pro-wrestling ring.
Just like Lesnar, Lashley has abandoned WWE stardom to pursue mixed-martial-arts fighting. Lashley makes his debut Saturday against fellow newcomer Joshua Franklin on a non-televised Mixed Fighting Alliance show in Miami.
Lashley has spent 2008 honing his skills in MMA, a discipline that combines boxing, Olympic-style wrestling and other traditional martial arts. Lashley, 32, is so serious about his new craft that the Colorado Springs, Colo., resident temporarily relocated to South Florida several months ago to train at the renowned American Top Team academy.
"I am completely confident and jazzed up about this fight," Lashley said in a recent telephone interview. "I've had the best trainers and partners to work with. When you have to battle every day with 70 of the toughest fighters in the world, you're going to be ready."
Like Lesnar in 2004, Lashley stunned pro-wrestling fans last year when quitting WWE. Only months earlier, Lashley had landed the marquee spot of representing Donald Trump in the latter's "Battle of the Billionaires" feud with WWE owner Vince McMahon. Lashley pinned Eddie "Umaga" Fatu at "Wrestlemania 23," resulting in McMahon's getting his head shaved.
Lashley wouldn't give specific reasons why he left WWE, a reticence believed to have stemmed from a confidentiality agreement between the two parties. Internet reports have speculated that his departure was linked to WWE's release of real-life girlfriend Kristal Marshall in September 2007 while Lashley recovered from shoulder surgery.
Lashley did allow that backstage politics played a major role in his WWE departure.
"I'm not going to say there weren't people there who tried to make things difficult for me," said Lashley, who was rushed into a prominent WWE slot shortly after his 2005 debut. "I always worked my (tail) off. There are some guys there who won't even warm up before a match and just go out and do blah, blah, blah. I didn't have the same skills yet as some people there. But I was working at it all the time and at the gym to make my appearance as good as possible.
"Sometimes in life, you have to work around things and keep climbing. I tried, but I was fighting a losing battle."
A national amateur-wrestling champion at Missouri Valley College, Lashley said he considered an MMA career before signing with WWE. He even broached McMahon about the possibility of MMA work while still under contract. Lashley said McMahon asked for patience, as WWE was considering an MMA venture before deciding against it.
"I was watching some people I had trained with become successful in MMA," the 6-2, 250-pound Lashley said. "When I had some time off after my (shoulder) injury, I had the opportunity to roll around with some of the MMA guys. That's when I had that burning desire to become a fighter again. Even when I was wrestling (in WWE), I always had the urge to grab somebody and start throwing punches."
Lashley admits to missing pro wrestling -- his lone match since leaving WWE was in Mexico earlier this year -- and didn't discount the possibility of working for a U.S. promotion again on a sporadic basis. Lashley, though, made it clear that MMA is his top priority even though he is uncertain of his next step after facing Franklin. That's largely because the MMA promotion Lashley signed with -- the upstart American Fight League -- has shuttered operations until at least early 2009.
"If I have to do 15 small shows around the U.S. or go to Japan, I want to start setting my sights on my next opponent as soon as this (Franklin) fight is over with," Lashley said.
Lashley said he is impressed with how smoothly Lesnar's transition to MMA has gone. In just his fourth overall bout last month, Lesnar defeated MMA legend Randy Couture to win the Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight title.
"I think one thing he did is shut people up who tried to take away everything he did in his amateur career, put a WWE logo on him and say he couldn't do it," said Lashley, referring to Lesnar's college-wrestling success at the University of Minnesota. "He didn't try to fight his critics. He just kept his nose to the grindstone and earned people's respect."
Although he has never met Lesnar, Lashley dreams of the day when he may be fighting for an MMA title.
"Eventually we'll cross paths, whether it's fighting, training, talking or shaking hands," Lashley said. "We'll see which it is."
A bout between former UFC heavyweights Jeff Monson and Ricco Rodriguez headlines Saturday night's Mixed Fighting Alliance show. For more information, visit www.mfamma.com.

Yup. Here is me doing one in competition: At about 1:30
Should have grabbed your toes and flexed your foot (like pointing with your feet). Nice one though.

pro wrestling still exists???
Apparently pro-wrasslin' work in the cage where kung fu does not...
They're setting up Lashley vs. Lesnar. That'll be a big money fight. Combine the MMA and WWE fanbase and that's a good chunk o' scrilla. :DQuote:
Ex-WWE star Lashley wins MMA debut
BY RODOLFO R. ROMAN
For The Miami Herald
Former World Wrestling Entertainment star Bobby Lashley says a mixed martial arts bout between he and UFC champ Brock Lesnar, another former WWE star, will happen.
''I am a wrestler, and Brock is a wrestler. If [Lesnar] wants to match skills, we match skills,'' said a confident Lashley, after defeating Joshua Franklin in their MMA debuts Saturday, Dec. 13 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.
``There is going to be a meeting between me and Brock. There will be.''
First, Lashley defeated Franklin at the inaugural Mixed Fighting Alliance event on Saturday. Lashley, who trained at American Top Team which has several locations in South Florida, needed just 41 seconds to win the match.
The card, titled There will be blood, lived up to its hype. Lashley opened a major laceration on Franklin's forehead.
Lashley impressed the crowd with his vicious punches and kicks. His wrestling skills were evident after taking some single and double leg shots.
Lesnar, who has three MMA matches under his belt, is the current UFC heavyweight champion after defeating former champ Randy Couture last month.
Lashley said there isn't much of a difference between the WWE and MMA locker rooms. ''I like the locker room in WWE,'' he said. ``You know, you have a bunch of professionals with a mindset of putting the best performance possible. This is the same thing.''
Lashley said there is no one in the MMA who could match his wrestling skills.
''I am confident of my wrestling background,'' he said.
Lashley left the building with fans cheering for more, and they will get more.
Other results: Jeff Monson def. Ricco Rodriguez. David Bagget def. Ariel Gandula. Eduardo Guedes def. Manuel Del Rio. Gino Tutera def. Wayne Bermudes. Ian Wolf def. Alex Vila. Wiber Marrero def. Ronald Pena. Alex Caceres def. Tulio Quintanilla. Luis Fernando Fernandes def. Michael Luzbet. Nelson Lopez def. William Gonzalez.
Here's another story but it's 4 pages so I didn't c&p it.
The Lashley fight was dissapointing. The guy got cut and the ref/doctors stopped the fight. Just the same, Lashley was doing well and showed he still has world class take down skill, as well as some heavy hands. He is not ready for the elite heavyweights yet though, although a Lesanar/Lashley match wouldn't be out of the question in the near foreseeable future. Especially since I don't think Lesnar will hold the title very long.
Next is Curt Angle.
And I'm with Gene, I am dying to see someone at least try a boston or single leg crab or knee crank. The way alot of these fighters setup thier guard, it looks very possible.
Don't **** off Lashley!

Pro wrestler Lashley destroys Cook in 24 seconds
By Steve Cofield
Don't make fun of Bobby Lashley and his pro wrestling background. The former WWE star said he was incensed by the fact that his opponent Mike Cook came to the cage in a lucha libre mask a la Nacho Libre.
Lashley is generally a polite, sportsman but he refused to touch gloves with Cook. He charged Cook in the opening seconds and missed with a huge right. Cook made the mistake of dropping his head. Lashley, a big MMA heavyweight at 6-foot-3, 249 pounds, grabbed onto Cook's head with his left arm. From there, he used his bulk to lean on Cook and it took just a few seconds for Cook to wilt under Lashley's weight. Lashley flattened out Cook (7-4) and re-positioned his right arm to cinch on a choke. Cook's legs could be seen quivering and referee John McCarthy had to step in to stop the fight (video). All that in just 24 seconds during Maximum Fighting Championship 21 at the River Cree Resort and Casino just outside Edmonton, Alberta
"I’m here for business," said Lashley (3-0). "I’m here and everyone wants to and tries to make fun of the wrestling thing. I’m real. If they want to play around, I’ll knock them out or choke them out. And that’s what I did. I choked him out and made him pay. Now he can go put the mask back on and have fun with himself."
Lashley, making the conversion from the fake stuff with Vince McMahon, started training mixed martial arts last year. He won his first fight in 41 seconds when Joshua Franklin couldn't continue after a Lashley elbow busted him open. His last time out in March, Lashley won a decision against veteran Jason Guida.
Lashley needed to get through this fight unscathed because he has a stiff test against freakazoid Bob Sapp (pictured below on the right) right around the corner. Sapp, a former NFL player, NCAA All-American at Washington and a huge crossover star in Japan, is 6-4, 345. He doesn't have much stamina but he is dangerous for about 4-5 minutes. Sapp (10-3-1) and Lashley will meet on June 27 in Biloxi, Miss.
Lashley is finished with the WWE but is still dabbling with pro wrestling with TNA. Former WWE champ Brock Lesnar also made a quick transition to MMA. After just three fights, he won the UFC's heavyweight title by downing all-time great Randy Couture. He defends his strap at UFC 100 in July against Frank Mir.
Lashley vs. Randleman would be cool.
Looks like a work.
I don't care about MMA in WWE, it's the WWE in MMA that would concern me.
Lashley strikes again

Pro wrestler Lashley TKOs the much larger Sapp in minutes
By Maggie Hendricks
Former pro wrestler Bobby Lashley showed that he is for real in mixed martial arts, defeating veteran fighter Bob Sapp with a technical knockout in less than two minutes at "Ultimate Chaos" in Biloxi, Miss.
As soon as the bell rung, Bobby Lashley went in for a quick takedown. He had no problem with bringing the much larger Sapp to the canvas. From there, he executed his game plan well, staying on top of Sapp and throwing a barrage of punches. Sapp tapped to signal that he wanted the fight to end, but the referee did not see it, and Lashley kept punching. Finally, Sapp tapped again, and the referee put an end to the fight at 1:17 in the first round. After the win, Lashley announced that he is ready for whoever wants to take him on.
"To all the heavyweights out there, if you're not looking at me, you better, because I'm coming. I'll take on all challengers," Lashley said.
Both men have the first name Bob, and both have experience professional wrestling, but the similarities end there, as Sapp outweighed Lashley by nearly 67 pounds for the main event. Lashley, who is undefeated in the real sport of MMA after years as a star professional wrestler in the WWE and ECW, took on the fight with Sapp, who is a veteran of Japanese fight promotions PRIDE and K-1, to prove that his desire to excel in MMA is real. A win over Sapp validated Lashley in the cage, moving his record to 4-0.
Lashley weighed in at 255 pounds for the fight, meaning that he would have no problem making the heavyweight class of 265 for more mainstream mixed martial arts promotions like the UFC, Strikeforce and Affliction. Considering how he has steamrolled through his four opponents, and that he is training at the highly touted American Top Team, it's not crazy to think that we will soon see Lashley on a larger stage.
Wow! He's got a better record than Brock . . .
he also looks way more monsterly

WWE legend Dave Bautista set to make mixed martial arts debut
UFC
September 2, 2012
By: Eric Holden
Former WWE superstar Dave Bautista is slated to make his mixed martial arts debut on Oct. 6 against Rashid Evans, in the main event of the "Real Pain" card from the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
Bautista, who performed in the WWE in the early-2000s as "Batista," is no spring chicken, as he's making his MMA debut at age 43.
View slideshow: Dave Bautista is set to make his MMA debut on Oct. 6
Luckily, his opponent, Evans, is also an MMA newcomer who has no pro fights under his belt. Evans is not to be confused with former UFC champion Rashad Evans.
On Sept. 1, it was announced that UFC veterans David Loiseau and John Howard were added to the "Real Pain" card, adding a little credability to a card headlined by two combatants with 0-0 records.
Loiseau (20-10) hasn't fought in over a year, as he battled through an elbow injury that sidelined him since Feb. of 2011. He'll be fighting 32-year-old Chris McNally (5-4).
Howard's opponent is yet to be determined. He (11-7) is 3-0 since getting released from the UFC last year.
The main card of "Real Pain" will air on DIRECTV per-per-view for $29.95.
I'm surprised he passed the p1ss test, lol. That guy is a poster child for PED's.
So, I haven't really been paying attention for the last 6 months. Was Evans released then?
Oh sh1t, I just noticed it is Rashid Evans. lol One letter was off, I thought it was Rashad.
I just got this press release about Bautista. They even offered an opportunity to interview him today, which I would have totally jumped at if I didn't have a previously scheduled appointment. It was too short of a notice. :(Quote:
