CCTV Documentary on Kung Fu Qigong Magazine
Anyone in China see it?
China Central Television (CCTV5) did a half hour documentary on us for our 10 Year Anniversary last year. It televeised about two weeks ago. We got a PAL version in last week. It was fascinating to see ourselves throught the eyes of a Chinese documentary. It was also a bit distressing to realize what a mess the office is. There isn't that much CMA in it, though, mostly it's interview and analysis of how we are trying to bring CMA to the U.S.A. They really focused on our non-Chinese perfomers. For more, here is an archivedezine piece that mentions the film crew.
there's always token foreigners
Even in our new shaolin dvd doc there's foreigners. Chinese love foreigners practicing. I guess it's exotic for them.
Speaking of crappy foreigners...
...they usually don't pick kme to be one since I'm Chinese heritage, but once a HK news crew filmed my Shaolin master teaching us spear. I had missed the previous lesson because it was the only time I could interview the Abbot, so there I was floundering to learn the moves on camera. Never saw the final program. My only consulation wast that I was wearing a Grateful Dead shirt and maybe some deadhead in HK saw it and said "look at that deadhead at Shaolin! He sucks!"
well, you know us deadheads...
if it wasn't for all those memory lapses, i might be good. ;)
