Pregnant woman wins fight, but now out of the mix for Carano match
By Steve Cofield

Female fighters bring some unique differences to the table versus their male counterparts. They face different challenges when cutting weight, but that's nothing compared to the reason Cindy Dandois just dropped out of the mix for a June fight against Strikeforce star Gina Carano.
Dandois is three and half months pregnant. Ariel Helwani of Versus has this crazy twist on the story:
Dandois beat Jorina Baars on a fight card in Belgium. Luckily, Dandois avoided any serious damage that could have harmed her unborn child. This all begs the question - do state commissions that control fights need to start administering a pregnancy test along with tests for PEDs before females step into the cage?Quote:
Interestingly enough, Dandois' last fight was on March 19, so if she really is three and a half months pregnant, that means she competed in a fight (which she won, by the way) while she was over two months pregnant.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker confirmed the pregnancy news and said a new opponent will be found shortly for Carano. Carano will return to fighting after 21-plus months off while busy with a movie career.
If true, that is just plain stupidity at it's best.
by god that woman is a moronic moronical moron if she fought pregnant
must be related that hippie woman who was swinging her newborn around like a pair of nunchuks on worlds dumbest
She might not have know, the body goes through many changes when peaking for a fight and she may not have know she was pregnant.
She, and her unborn baby, we very, very lucky.
There's some vids about her announcement and on set for Haywire if you follow the link.

Former Reno resident Gina Carano is returning to mixed martial arts fighting.
Carano, daughter of Reno casino executive Glenn Carano, is slated to fight on the Strikeforce card June 18 in Dallas, Strikeforce announced in a press release. Glenn Carano is a former Dallas Cowboys quarterback.
No opponent has been named for Carano. She last fought Aug. 15, 2009, when she lost to Cristiane Santos in the first round.
Since then Carano has filmed a movie called "Haywire" directed by Steven Soderbergh, who has also directed "Ocean's Eleven," "Erin Brockovich" and "Traffic," among other movies.
According to IMDB.com, Carano plays a black operations soldier named Mallory Kane who is double crossed and makes it back to protect her family and take revenge on those who double crossed her. The movie also has Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas and Michael Douglas. IMDB.com says the film is scheduled to open in August.
The Strikeforce press release also says she has left the Xtreme Couture camp in Las Vegas, headed by MMA veteran Randy Couture, and is now being trained by Greg Jackson, who has trained UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.
Carano left Reno after the first grade at Jesse Beck Elementary School.
She also appeared on the television show "American Gladiators" as the character Crush.
isn't she the hot chick in 'True Lies," and "Wayne's World?"
Relax gentlemen, she took a pregnancy test and it was negative...she didn't know she was pregnant, false negatives happen. I played soccer through 4.5 months...;)
gentlemen? you must be in the wrong forum :p
she didnt know she was pregnant till after she fought... im pretty sure carano is still on the card, but i havent heard any final words on a replacement...
as to the gina gaining weight thing, shes always had issues with weight... cutting to 145 was always really tough for her... a few times she barely made it... had to strip on stage to make weight... and shes also NOT made weight before too... and as much as i like gina carano, theres absolutely no excuse for not making weight...
that being said, it can be harder for women to predict and time weight cutting properly... women just fluctuate more than men...
is she fighting at 145? or 135? 135 will be tough for her, shes a big girl...
i think the chica gina is fighting fought last in europe somewhere... i dunno why she didnt know she was preggers... you would think that would be mandatory everywhere... just like the physical... if it isnt like that everywhere, it should be... its for the best...
