Depends largely on the rules they are using in the tournament.
You probably need to find out what rules they will be using. If it's thai rules then punches, kicks elbows and knees are all allowed, as is fighting in the clinch. Some places don't allow all these moves however.
As a kung fu and Muay Thai practicioner i know they work hard at body conditioning, so you'd want to make sure that your conditioning is up to scratch.
Maybe they only want Muay Thai stylists in this tournament? Who knows?
It's because they don't want to see you get hurt, my friend. that may be insulting to you, but you have to see things from their point of view.Quote:

I wouldn't allow you to compete in a boksing match if I ran the show.
They don't let inmates of insane asylums compete in practical shooting matches either. :p
all kidding aside, they won't let you compete is likely due to you not being able to meet the criteria, not understanding the rules, not having a legit background etc etc.
If you were up to speed on the ruleset, could demonstrate that you desreve to compete, then I don't think there would be any issues at all.
also, if you could at least spell it properly on the application would be awesome! :p
It would also help alot if you actually tried to enter a competition.
:D Good call.Quote:

please please enter this mauy thai event. it would be a public service for you to get a proper ass kicking.
go to thailand. you WILL find a place to fight. you will likely not be cared for too well once your broken, but you will get your fight on...
last weekend in hampton, virginia there were 2 fighters who entered from chinese martial arts institute out of mclean, virginia. not sure that the anit-kung fu bias exists from the thai camp.
the thai dont care. my master fought thai matches in thailand during his youth.
if you want to fight, you can fight. if anything pit fights are open grounds for any style.
ok i'm going to thailand end of next month to do some pit fighting. i've trained 20 years in wudang shaloin, clf, hung gar, wing chun, meditation, form training and scapped a lot like a boxer in my youth. also done some bjj, high kicks in tkd and breaking skills in karate.

dude! even if you trained in these styles doesnt mean a thing, if you havent done any sparring youre not going to be happy after and a few days after the fight . in order to fight you need conditioning , cardio and actually fighting technique. dont do the traditional mistake of hey i know TCMA so i can fight, its not true. you may know how to do forms but not fight.
