In the past I was peeved by not being able to write the word the word farther. Someone suggested I use further, but it's the comparative for forth, not far, and my OCD allows me to be ungrammatical only when I bloody well feel like it.

yes but thats such a pain in the ass to do it that way... i prefer to just reverse two letters or use subs. like a 1 for an i or an @ for an a, for example...
It's easy to override with some rudimentary web know-how, yet we maintain the practice simply for its symbolic function. :o
There's a lot to be said for honoring tradition:)
especially traditions that involve typing out the word "fart".
