The best in Texas (and therefore the world) is Blanco River Brewing's Full Moon Pale Rye Ale.
The last time I puked was on Texas beer....
Oklahoma beer is 3.0% alcohol, so when we'd go to Texas, the 6.0% would kick our arses.
Jebus, I hate to think what would happen if you guys ever got hold of some 100 proof whiskey!
Everclear is legal here...98 proof.
Good stuff when you can get it.
hahahaha!
No one but the germans can handle our strong texas beer!
I seriously will get ziegenbach shipped out to cali when I move... and our kick ass 5.3% budweiser. :)
Master Killer -
You seem to be a bit hazy on what "Proof" constitutes. Pure grain alcohols like Everclear are very close to 100% alcohol, but there are 2 proofs to every percent. Therefore, Everclear is something like 190 proof (distillation can only go so far - the remaining 5% is water, I think.)
100 Proof whiskey is therefore only 50% alcohol, and the remaining 50% is water and yumlicious impurities.
Hey Chang, is Celis micro-brew still in business? I had a buddy who worked for them. Used to bring home beer in crates. Good times those were.
190 proof/95% is the highest percentage of alcohol you can have and maintain stability. From my understanding, at higher percentages, the stuff has to be stored in a vacuum or will absorb environmental moisture until it brings the concentration down.
An old chemistry professor of mine once worked for the military. They had 100% alcohol in their lab. One night, a drunk cadet broke in and took a big gulp of the stuff. End result: severe chemical burns of the mouth, throat, stomach...
That 5% is evidentally a whole lot. Still, I've only known a few yahoos crazy or drunk enough to do everclear shots. I can't imagine it's too good for you.
Ah, the Celis saga! Celis is BACK in business, about two years after Miller shut them down. I don't know if they're in the same brewery they used to occupy or what. I do know that ol' Lucky Pierre is the brewmaster again, and the stuff is as delicious as ever (my preference for the Blanco River beers is mostly due to my preference for British styles to Belgian styles.)
dwid - back when I lived in Alaska, every once in a while you'd hear about some dumb yahoo in the bush storing his 150 proof vodka outdoors in -60 degree weather. Of course, it wouldn't freeze due to the low freezing temp. of alcohol. Then they'd go outside and do a shot of it. The -60 liquid would cause the water in the soft tissues of their mouth and throat to crystallize. What a lousy, stupid way to die.
Is it wrong that I laughed when I read that?Quote:

If it is, then I don't wanna be right.
Oh Nina, ne me quitte pas!
Didya miss me?
I was just staying in Dengfeng City, near Shaolin Temple, and I ate at this all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet with ALL-YOU-CAN-DRINK-BEER. It was lousy beer, but what do you want for 20 yuan?
do you guys like mixed drinks at all? fruity, tangy, etc. I like gin and tonic
I'll drink the occasional Gin&tonic... but
I must admit I'm a bit of a red-wine snobb . . .
comes with being driving disance of Nappa I suppose...
I usually drink my liquor straight, but have been known to drink bourbon with ginger ale, gin or (preferably) vodka Tonics, Gibsons (I don't like olives, so not Martinis), and the three 'M's: Manhattans, Margaritas, Mojitos.
i did :D
:( Nina Simone.
That sucks and blows simultaneously.
As for beer, Caffrey's all the way, but it's hard get good Caffrey's outside the UK.
As for the topic at hand, publishing just to say your published, I've been writing for the martial arts for about a decade now. You don't have to tell me about this. Hundreds of articles, dozens of dollars. ;)
Vodka Bull at the club early
Bourbon and ginger ale
bourbon and coke
vodka drinks that aren't too sweat
tequila....no training wheels please, oh, and no cuervo
As far as beer goes, don't touch it, it gets you drunk, (joking)
Like the Boddingtons
Like the Fat Tire
Don't like the lite beers in general
don't like IPAs on the majority
do like the stouts
Oh, gotta go ghetto fab. sometimes...

Gin & tonics are very therapeutic. In fact, it originated as a therapeutic. Mixed drinks are to get got qi? girls drunk. Gimme a JD straight up, or with a little ginger ale, if it's going to be a long night. Guinness for strength.
Well, it originated as a way to get people to take their quinine and prevent the spread of malaria. That's theraputic, I guess, but I don't see what the gin has to do with it. Or the twist of lemon.
I hate gin! It's like drinking perfume. However, vodka and tonic is another matter entirely. Of course, that's only if it's going to be a long night, as Gene said. Otherwise it's good vodka straight up (and by good I mean Polish, preferably Wyborowa) or a good Malt. And if any of you put anything, even ice, in good Malt, I'm going to have to come over there and kick your sorry arse.
Mmmm...Diet Pepsi and Laphroaig...:D
I think gin and tonics taste the way christmas trees smell. Like, from the way christmas trees smell, I would presume they would taste like gin and tonics.
The only alcohol drink that tastes good to me is those "cooler" drinks, dunno if thats how you call them on usa.
All else tastes like pisz, though some are more dense, sweeter types of pisz, others are lighter softer pisz.
Whenever i drink the stuff i have the specific primary objective of getting drunk, otherwise i wouldnt drink since it tastes like pisz.
I only drink a few times a year though, maybe 4 times.
BTW if you ever see me dancing -> im drunk
I mean wine coolers, right?Quote:

exactly, wine coolers, those are the good shyte
gimmy some froo-froo drinks. red robin makes something called a sand in yer shorts -- so nummy.
otherwise, it's my roommate making a jd and jd and jd and coke.
But i probably shouldn't drink them.
Why I oughtta...!Quote:

LS?
Hands are cool.
Gin tastes like cologne. Eugh.
I like screwdrivers, but I'm a big fan of rum and cokes. Mmmmm... rum.
Jack Daniels, on the other hand, is inhabited by evil corn spirits waiting to do me harm.
I can drink half a bottle of Bacardi 151, and be dizzy and sleepy, but otherwise fine.
Half a bottle of high octane vodka, and I'm laughing and dancing.
A half a bottle of JD and I've got tunnel vision and can't walk, and I'll spend the next day in bed.
Evil corn spirits, man.
