Can you get the name/contact details for these guys? Or put us in contact with someone who can?
I know a Lau Gar guy (ormskirk BKFA) who is going to go to HK on holiday, so would love to meet them...
It's not really a Lau Gar school there though is it? It's a wushu school that the BKFA see once a year, and teach some LG to.
Makes you wonder why no-one from the BKFA goes to find the mainland Lau...
Now that would be extremely interesting to know more about!
I know a few people in HK, so we could check it out.
Be amazing to know more about him. The annoying thing with all of this is that...
The BKFA are (apparently) in the process of producing some definitive/up-to-date syllabus DVD's - so until then, there isn't going to be any stuff on youtube. Which makes commerical sense I guess.
...
Short History Lesson:
Jeremy Yau started teaching in the 70's, before that Lau Gar was unknown in the UK (or pretty much anywhere for that matter).
The BKFA state:
"Lau Gar Kuen is derived from a...
I'm a UK lau gar guy... where abouts/with whom do you train?
what's SBG??
*sigh* yes dad!
Annoyingly my gym is closed over most of xmas. I was hoping to get one last session in before then, but I guess I'll skip it.
I was sparring hard contact last night and i've got a bruised rib. I can feel it when I do a push up (sharp pain, not excruitiating, but I know it's there!) I was planning to go to the gym later...
Cheers for that. The only reason I do the hamstring curls at all is because the other exercises don't really touch them and i've been told by my physio that strong hamstrings are a good idea to...
I currently do:
Bench press
Squats
Seated row (or deadlift)
Hamstring curls
I try for a 4-6 rep range, biggest weight i can manage at that rep range.
Fair enough. I've just found out they are affiliated to these guys: http://www.wingtsun.net/ if that rings any bells with anyone?
I do LauGar.
High Rep exercises would be both in the class (lots of punching/kicking) but mainly I mean the high rep exercises in the warm-ups : Lots of push-ups, Squats, situps etc etc. i'd say in...
Ok, so here's my problem. I want to a)get bigger/stronger and b)still be able to train kungfu.
The problem with this is the style of exercise at kungfu (very high rep bodyweight exercises) is in...
Anyone ever heard of/trained with these guys:
http://www.kskungfu.com/
A friend of mine has just started with them, so just wondered if it's got a good rep or not.
Do they ever break down the forms/moves as to where comes from what? As a Lau Gar practioner, be interesting to see the LG moves in the Five Families Style...
Never heard of any Lau Gar books - any idea where you got it from?
Or author/publisher/ISBN number would be really helpful!
Where does it say it's him? Can't see that on the vid...
I can't see that video for some reason. Is it a different set to the one I posted? And does it say what it is?
If that is reference to me: Then yes, they are full set's of the Lau Gar system. The BKFA's website is here:
http://www.laugar-kungfu.com/
However, there is controversy about how geunine the...
There is a "flower fist" form in UK Lau Gar. A not too brilliant example can be found here:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.kelly627/
The video you want is the top one. Does that look like...
That Lao Kim form is very bizarre! Doesn't seem to be similar to anything really, loks of random moves that look Lau-ish, but then being a southern style you are going to get that alot.
Any chance you can link to that form? Be interesting to see it...
As for the guy being 70, here is a pic:

Yes, but only the two I've mentioned are Lau Gar.
Still, the others are great to watch for the other southern arts.
