This thread just makes everyone involved look bad.
Oh ****, what am I doing here?
You might be interested in something more gymnastics-based. People over at http://www.reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness/ can help suggest some basic routines (read the faq there first). They generally...
I agree - first video is pretty bad. His stances are weak. The way he's punching/kicking actually makes him slower. Not realistic and not real power.
The video of John Wang shows good mechanics...
Those videos of Sin... sinfully bad.
Where are you located? Who are the instructors?
I would also recommend a Shuai Chiao jacket. Personally, I've used the black ones from David Lin (combatshuichiao.com) and they are great.
+1
I'd rather take advice from someone who knows how to use it and not just "train" it.
The first video only shows some evidence of knowing how to sell it, but not train it or use it.
No mention of Barrington Levy in the article...
Released the album "Shaolin Temple" in 1979.

I think I recall you saying that Chang Dong Sheng would say not to compete unless you were 100% certain you would win. I think you guys are promoting a good attitude to have if you want to be the...
Haha, yeah, bad move on my part. I'd been sick for a week and was still running a fever, had the chills... I was layered up a bit before competition to stay warm. I wasn't expecting to play...
I have one and I also love it. It is durable. I got thrown by Sifu Omar (David Lin's student) recently. I was not expecting to cross hands at the time so I had a t-shirt on under my jacket. The...
Thanks for the input, Marcelo-RJ. I've been interested in hearing from someone who studied with Sifu Wong. If I were anywhere near him, I'd love to visit his school.
Bruce Lee was a bit like Steve Jobs (or vice versa) in a way. Neither created anything new, they just made the old look hip and flashy.
This forum is crazy, I tell ya. OP asks for some info on Pak Mei & CLF in NY. I post one possible school to check out (maybe the one he was asking about initially), and that leads to 8 pages of...
Go learn some Shuai Jiao.
What CLF school you talking about? I don't recall where this guy's at, but I'd bet he's a very good teacher:

Is Shaolin-Do for real?
No.
There, can we move on now?
:p
Do a search for his name. It's not hard to find out who Ark Wong was.
*Sigh*...
Oh kungfu magazine forum, you so crazy... :p
Awesome! I'll be sure to come by and introduce myself. With any luck, I'll be competing, myself.
Congratulations, ginosifu! I'm just a young'n in the art, but also study GM Chang's Shuai Jiao. Much respect to you!
Will you or your students be attending Dr. Wu's tournament in Oct?...
I'm glad Mr. Wang has chimed in regarding this. Studying Shuai Jiao has helped my footwork a lot. I think if your footwork is good for throwing, it will be good for striking as well.
Chinese Martial Arts Training Manuals: A Historical Survey by Brian Kennedy and Elizabeth Guo is quite interesting.

Tyrant171, I am in the western suburbs... not too far from Naperville. PM me if you would ever like to get together to train. It is always nice to have people close to home to train with in between...
