I'm 7 Star Praying Mantis under Sifu Henry Chung.
Have fun with Sifu Chung in August! I suppose we in Midland do have to share from time to time :D
Dang, I guess I really missed out not being in class last night!
Hmmmm, I wouldn't have thought that, but now that you mention it and I make the mental comparison........you are right! :D
Awesomeness!
I've learned Dai Fanche and I know sifu Chung teaches Su Fanche (sorry, I only hear the Cantonese and don't know which is the Mandarin). Not sure about the other Fanche forms though.
I'm curious...
Yep, no problem. I suppose a specific example would always help too, eh? ;)
So, when he does his sembo (at 1:00 and 1:03) for example, he really drops his arm and scoops as if blocking a kick. ...
I don't mean to say that the application changes when the speed does. I mean to say that when I see the pauses and at this speed that I am more able to see the differences in the application...
This is interesting because when it is played out at this speed with the certain pauses thrown in, it changes a lot of the application compared to the way I learned it.
Hehehe, very nice B! I was expecting something a bit different on the Rolling Nut Shot, but that was cool. Don't think I've seen Sifu do that one (of course you never see him actually doing any of...
Very cool. Who is Master Lee?
Very nicely done videos B! Good explanation of au lau choi too.
Way to throw us "kung fu guys" a bone on the Belt Wheel video heheheh :D
So, speaking of au lau choi, is the only difference...
Nice, MightyB. I have heard both of those stories at the school :D
A few other stories about some hoodlum or another walking into the school and mocking Sigung and another challenge type match...
As soon as you said boring, long, tedious and no one likes doing it, I instantly thought Sap Say Lo! Nice :D
I agree with MightyB on TongLong Chut Dong and for an even more trivial reason than his! It is the only one I have been taught so far! :( I suppose after another six years at the school I will...
Wow, that is a cool story! Sounds like stories Sifu Chung tells of them training their kiu sao against steel poles from the harbor in Hong Kong  I wish I had joined the school at a time when...
Yeah, this came from Sifu Adriano from Brazil. He and one of his todai visited in Midland last month for a few weeks. He has been coming up to train about once a year for the last two or three...
I'm at Chung's in Midland. I'll probably find out the hard way if we do the other ones in our school when sifu drills me into the ground teaching them!! :D
I have learned the first two (Chut Dong and Tao Tow) but I'm not sure if those other sets are taught at our school....
I have only learned the first sets of the Broadsword (Baht Gwa Dao), Staff (Mm Long Gwan) and Gan (Cern Gan) but I know others at the school have learned Spear, Bench, Longsword (Gim), three section...
Hahaha :D
Funny how Sifu Chung can humble you isn't it! I believe I was humbled by his elbow to my throat last night in class
My resume sounds pretty puny by comparison as I have only been training 7 star under Sifu Henry Chung for almost 5 years now. Seems like I am one of the few people to have never studied any other...
Heheh, good point Mighty B. You should see the way Sifu trains techniques these days. More organized and more repetition. Good stuff. More simplicity too. Pak sao, diu sao. A key to a lot of...
Hahah, thanks B!
I've got some pictures on my phone I have yet to extract. Hopefully they are decent quality.
Wow, I love the opposing line Bung Bo. That is pretty sweet :D
