Hey, I'm new to taekwon do and during my searches for information on it I've found that a lot of people have a pretty low opinion of it. What's up?

I fenced sabre for almost twelve years. It's a wonderful sport and I've found the speedy footwork to be very helpful in my taekwon do sparring.

I've been in only a handful of fights, but I've been luckier as far as being able to avoid them goes.

Although I don't train in BJJ (I'm a Hapkido and TKD student) I'm also interested in what other styles are teaching -- especially in military application.
