HSK - That's a total bummer about losing a good student. Them're hard to come by!
FYI I'm not *really* near Downers Grove, but Champaign is only about two hours away, and my parents are up in...
I think it is 搶眼槌 in Traditional Characters, or 抢眼槌 in Simplified.
That was really cool, thanks for posting it. You can really see the northern influence in Bak Sing in that set.
CLF players - Are any of you attending the Great Lakes tournament in Cleveland this April?
Yeah, he's my Sifu, and although I haven't been able to jump in on any of his Sanda classes down in Austin (he used to teach in IL), I can tell you it'll be a great Sanda class for sure.
Yeah, I kinda stumbled on to that a few months ago myself. If it ever actually gets made I'll go see it, if nothing else it'll be hilarious cuz that Dante guy was really strange.
Yeah, that was good. Great intention and energy.
Since you already have a warm-up and cool-down, I'd suggest perhaps the following:
10 min form: take it slow, focus on correct structure and technique.
15 min basic pad/bag work: Practice power...
I assume this is supposed to be April 19, 2008 (not 2007) right?
Couldn't agree more. Both my Sifu and I use forms we've created when teaching, especially in the beginning stages. I asked because in some way I can't put my finger on it felt a little...
Very cool, thanks for posting. Is the footstool a traditional set in that lineage?
As usual, great vid. Really enjoyed watching Lun-Chee at the end. I noticed my Sigung Tat Mau Wong in a pic at 2:50 or so, as well as I've seen him in a few of your other vids. Does he know the...
Sifu Frank - Thanks for sharing a little more of your story. I've always found it totally amazing and very inspirational, but never really heard more than the broad summary. You're an amazing...
My sifu (123) has two videos on youtube with kids from his school demonstrating CLF techniques. Gotta be jealous of those kids who find it young huh?
Exactly correct.
I don't have a copy so I can't vouch for anything about this book, but there is another CLF book here on amazon.com
Thanks Gene.
Haha, sorry if I stepped on any toes, didn't mean to. What I meant is pretty much what CLFNole said; it's played differently than most of the Hung Gar I've seen, and like much of the (good) CLF I've...
Still haven't received my issue this month. Anybody else not got it yet or should I start getting worried?
Yeah, to me this totally looks like a form that somebody made trying to combine CLF and Hung Gar. The "way you like" is probably the fact that he's doing CLF!
Choy Lay Fut has a single-person staff set we call the Shaolin Staff. We also have a two-person set also claimed to be from Shaolin.
I haven't yet either; I'm glad I'm not the only one. I also expect to find it in my mail box any time now.
Hahaha, that's funny. I appreciate where he's trying to go, but he's got some major structure issues. I bet he's never really done any MA.
Many of those long swinging strikes are meant (or at least can as well be used) as forearm strikes, not necessarily strikes with the fist. When you're in forearm range striking with these swinging...
