Ao Qin,
If you would like to get in touch with the Pak Mei group in London ON, feel free to contact me. I actually just got back from working out with them.
Sorry I don't agree. The requirements for fighting bare knuckle were the same 200 years ago as they would be today. You either train it or you don't.
...
By the way, I feel those requirement should be leveled at all Chinese Martial Arts, not just the practitioner in the video, I certainly hold my own practice to the same standard. Martial arts that...
All a decent fighter has to do is compare what you see in the video with a good boxer and you will see a lot of realities of fighting that are missing.
For starters:
Stepping that does not put...
When I went to compete in China, they didn't want to let foreigners and Chinese fight once we got there. That way both foreigners and Chinese could get a gold medal. I agree that once you know how...
Very little overlap with how I use my Pak Mei.
 A good first step would be to stop practicing and teaching fake or made up chop suey kung fu. Those of us that have spent real time with actual teachers from legitimate lineages can spot...
My Pak Mei and Hung Gar are both alive and well. I knew martial arts were on a downward slope the first time I won a San Shou championship and received a small medal, then looked over and saw the...
If you actually practiced Pak Mei you wouldnt be asking about a few of those as they are addressed very early on in the training.
Footwork and holding positions. Doing explosive movement with weight on your feet can be a great recipe for screwing up your knees and hips.
We just used the lead or shot filled leg weights you can fasten around the ankle to do this type of training.
If I recall the name of it in English is a calabash gourd. You may be able to find them carved into a container with a little googling.
Ueshiba trained was trained in Daito Ryu by Takeda Sokaku prior to his founding Aikido. High level Daito Ryu methods very much embody the type of skills that he was famous for, and they have some...
That is pretty much why we use the word as well. It doesn't mean you only want to have those type of responses on call, but it does mean we train them.
I am of the same school of thought.
I think they are great, we use them in Hung Gar quite a bit. Getting contact with the legs is a great way to limit the possibilities your opponent has. Disconnecting before acting on them is a...
I can only speak first hand on Pak Mei and Hung Gar. The two have a very different emphasis on how bridging is done, and when. Not to say there is not any overlap, but overall I wouldn't lump them...
If you train with your Sifu, then that is who you train with. I don't get why it would even be a question. If you have a real teacher, then that is who you train with.

Talk about beating a dead horse. I am not sure who has been saying the same old thing for no good reason for longer, LaRoux/Knifefighter/Whatever alias he posts under, or the majority of the Wing...
I can't speak for them but over time I can say that as your falling skill increases the need for using things like a slap goes down. You may be right about the competition angle to it as well.
I haven't really taken the time to think about it much until reading this, but over the years I have sort of developed a preference to taking falls.
If possible, roll
If you can't roll, slap
If...
I have used the overhand on a 45 downwards many times, both in Hung Gar training as well as San Shou (it mapped over quite nicely). It is a great movement and one that became so natural I stopped...

I can't speak for your style but ours works just fine.
I completely agree. :D
